The Procurement Specialist contributes to the organisation goals by co-coordinating the efficient and effective delivery of business strategy through structuring operational plans, as well as the implementation thereof, through the management of procurement related expenditure for the Organisation

Principal Accountabilities

Analyse and understand business expenditure relating to internal and external service providers as required in order to drive cost efficiencies for the business and ensure quality services are delivered to internal and external clients

Understand business processes, needs and requirements in order to award business based on compliance requirements and best practice

Ensure adherence to compliance standards in accordance to company procurement requirements and procedures in awarding new and existing business on an ongoing basis

Improve procurement influence and strengthen negotiations ability in the market by reviewing existing and forecasting future expenditure

Ensure achievement of the company’s BBBEE objective with regard to preferential procurement as well as compliance to the Code of Good Practise

Facilitate and finalise Supplier Service level Agreements and contracting with existing and new Suppliers

in conjunction with the Legal Compliance TeamBuilding and maintaining effective internal and external relationships with various stakeholders to foster effective long term strategic partnerships

Supplier relationship management, including vetting and performance management of suppliers

Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs

Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness

Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements

Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms

Develop and improve on procurement procedures, controls and policy and ensure compliance

Build a high quality supplier and contractor base

Negotiate best terms and prices with local, regional and international suppliers

Create and manage contracts (local, regional and international)

Produce various operational reports for management and internal / external customers as needed

Maintenance of preferred supplier database

Implement and maintain procurement processes and procedures

Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policies

Required Competencies and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Supply Management , Logistics, Business Administration or similar

Proven working experience as a procurement manager or procurement analyst

Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a agility in reading the market

Good knowledge of supplier or third party management ie. Insurance company, Mobile service provider

Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers

Experience in collecting and analyzing data

Contract management experience

Highly organized and ability to prioritize effectively and work with speed

Excellent team player and interpersonal skills

SAP and advance excel knowledge essential

Experience in local, regional and international procurement will be beneficial

Assertive, well spoken with good verbal and communication skills

Strong negotiation skills and persuasion skills

Team player

Resilient , able to work under pressure, accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations
