Position Description :
An opportunity has arisen for a Merchandise Planner within the DESIGN CENTRE. If you would like the opportunity to join a dynamic team and have the experience, then this is the ideal position for you.
You will be responsible for :
Drive Critical path adherence from concept to delivery for the design team.
To highlight manufacture ready targets, follow up and report progress, and escalate any problems to the Key Accounts Manager
Book capacity with internal Planning department in accordance with Order Book
Liase with retail customer with regards to order status from brief to delivery
Completing garment costing per PIS month accurately and within deadline.
Administrative functions such as update of Monthly order book, iSYNC stystem update and Financial plans
Plan and re-project required fabric and CMT capacity for replenishment to fulfil retail projection
Preparation of all financials for reporting purposes
Ensure that the package handed over to the production team is in accordance to the retail brief and costing and handed over within the deadlines set.
The ideal candidate should have :
Proven working experience (2 years minimum) with a background in a manufacturing environment. The incumbent should have a good understanding of both production and retail.
Relevant Diploma (advantageous)
A high degree of numeracy and an analytical, detailed and strategic approach to work
In depth knowledge of design to production process
Good understanding of manufacturing processes
Understand raw material processes as well as costing and garment construction.
Computer literacy in word, excel and planning systems
Strong business acumen and merchant thinking
Good organisational and interpersonal skills - Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Proven decision-making ability
Strong affiliation to systems, utilising them to increase productivity in line with the merchandise strategy
Preference will be given, but not limited to, candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act
