Our client, a Bryanston based transactional IT environment with over 300 staff are seeking a UX Specialist to join their highly skilled and diverse team in Bryanston.

This company is South Africa’s leading provider of electronic bill placements, online applications and software development.

The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who is self-motivated and has the ability to motivate other. You will be in a position of influence for both internal and external consumers.

You must be able to

  • Concerned with application server integration and development preferring a message based SOA approach
  • Be capable of translating functional specifications into workable project deliverables and staging these according to team capability and capacity
  • Responsible to build projects and be capable of developing relationships with customers and testing teams as required
  • Support production deployments and production maintenance related to application workflow and user experience
  • Mentor those with less experience
  • Seeks and participates in development opportunities above and beyond required training
  • Communicates effectively with clients and company staff to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions with project management
  • Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships
  • Manage client expectations effectively
  • Keep the interface beautiful and easy to use. Direct the visual appearance of all new features and enhancements on our software application
  • Initiate, suggest, and spearhead major UI re-factorings for a more intuitive user-experience
  • Design elegant solutions to complex workflows. Design things that people will talk about
  • Act as the user-advocate during the development process, subjecting early-stage designs to usability testing or expert review, and offering implementation suggestions from a user-centred perspective
  • Act as go to with in-depth knowledge of user interface best practices and standards. Use research-related services, theories and methods to support your recommendations
  • Take the initiative in providing input and feedback in both departmental discussions and on issues relating to other departments
  • Duties and responsibilities include :

  • Overall responsibility for understanding a customer's brief and converting that into appealing, highly usable interfaces
  • Engaging with the business development team and / or customer early on to seek a deeper appreciation of the customers’ business problem / goals
  • Developing understanding of the end users of the website / application through secondary and primary research (user interviews, traffic data)
  • Generating user personas and user scenarios
  • Preparing low fidelity prototypes of sites / features (ranging from paper-and-pencil concepts to wireframes or interactive prototypes) for internal review and brain storming
  • Gauging technical feasibility of the prototype
  • Presenting high fidelity designs / mock-ups to the customer for review / iteration / approval.
  • Working directly with customers in an iterative / agile manner to dramatically improve the prototypes in a short time
  • Explain his / her design philosophy verbally and in writing
  • Providing thought leadership to the client to guide them in the right direction in accordance with the proposed solution
  • Working with client users and internal staff to define information requirements
  • Working effectively as part of a team and seeks to support the teams goals
  • Broadening own technical, functional, and industry skill base
  • Engaging in formal and informal knowledge transfer
  • Performing related work as required.
