10d ago, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a bright, positive and hardworking Junior Legal Counsel to join our team in Cape Town.

The legal team supports the Takealot Group as a whole which includes,, Mr D Food.

We are looking for a results-oriented, creative critical thinker with strong strategic and analytical experience to support the ambitious growth of our business.

You need to be strong in both root-cause analysis and driving to action in other words, be both a thinker and a doer. You need to be passionate about the potential of e-

commerce and delivering world-class customer experience. And, because we operate in a fast-growing, quick-moving environment, we’re looking for someone who is entrepreneurial, thrives under change , and always looks for solutions to do something better and faster.

Responsibilities :

  • Draft, review, negotiate and finalise contracts
  • Update and improve template documents
  • Assist with dispute resolution, including consumer matters
  • Keep abreast of new legal developments affecting the business
  • Assist with regulatory matters
  • Assist with training and seminars
  • Integrate with the business via regular communication
  • Support the legal team as required

  • Qualifications & Experience :

  • LLB, admitted attorney in South Africa
  • 1-2 years post-admission experience at a well-established law firm in commercial / corporate law, or in the in-house legal department of a large corporate
  • Experience in commercial law issues generally, and particularly in drafting / reviewing contracts
  • Preferred :

  • Experience in technology and retail would be ideal, but is not strictly required
