Job Purpose

  • Captures the system vision to provide an overview of technically what the system is to do and why
  • Working with the Business Analyst, leads and coordinate functional and non-functional systems requirements definition and documents the same
  • Converts the functional specification to technical specification
  • Is responsible for outlining the system's technical functionality and defining the system scope. This includes identifying demands the new system will place upon the IT Environment, what will be its required response time(s), and other expectations the system must meet to achieve the desired purpose Key Responsibilities The System Analyst is accountable for :
  • Analysis of new business requirements and translating them to system technical and non-functional requirements
  • Design of systems according to the stated requirements
  • Ensuring functional / non-functional performance of the systems according to the needs of the business
  • Analysis of new Commercial Off the shelf (COTS) products to ascertain fitment and provide recommendation Plan & Organise
  • Consult with management, Business Analysts and users to determine performance and other technical expectations of the system
  • Understand the organization’s technical environment
  • Provide effort estimates to BA for putting together a business case.
  • Design the systems, interfaces, features and new technologies to meet business goals
  • Interact / guide the coder / developers to remain current on system development status Delivery & Support
  • Capture system vision
  • Capture non-functional requirements
  • Derive information requirement by use of relevant techniques, tools and prototypes.
  • Outline the functionality of the system
  • Obtain the Business Requirement Definition (BRD) from the Business Analyst (where relevant) and facilitate sessions to ensure that all functional specifications mentioned in the document are having respective technical specifications
  • Analyse 'as-is' and 'to-be' processes to identify the gaps in System and resolve them by proposing suitable solution
  • Participate in development of functionality by authoring Business Systems Requirements Specification (BSRS) document containing requirements, system use cases, process flows, data flow, work flow, systems processes etc.
  • reviewing changes and mentoring improvements

  • Present the BSRS to stakeholders and obtain sign off
  • A System Analyst may also be involved in the following
  • Analyse Use Cases
  • Coordinate with the Database Manager for database design and prototypes o Coordinate with the Tester to create Test strategy
  • Create Test Plans
  • Detail Use Cases
  • Develop Test Data
  • Ensure availability of the BSRS document
  • Maintain the BSRS document along the project life cycle
  • Provide assistance to Systems Developers to understand the BSRS to enable them to deliver a programme / project or a solution
  • Clarify the system requirements to the Developers
  • Assist the developers in creating unit test plans and provide clarification of any queries
  • Update the BSRS with changes and enhancements that may be identified. Follow the change process
  • Assist Developers, and users (during User Acceptance Testing) during testing and remediation phases
  • Support system integration testing and manage defects and additional requirements Moniter & Evaluate Monitor that the system is stable in production Education and Experience Required
  • Degree or Diploma in computer science, commerce or business administration, compulsory.
  • Information Systems Analyst certification from Institute for the Certification of Computing Professionals, advantageous
  • Banking domain experience, advantageous
  • Minimum 4 years’ Systems Analysis experience
  • Coaching and mentoring experience, advantageous
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in working in a multi discipline team fostering collaboration and team work
  • Exposure in Systems Design
  • Exposure in Development
  • Exposure in Business Continuity Management & Disaster Recovery
  • Exposure in Compliance Audit
  • Elementary Quality Assurance
  • Knowledge & Skills :
