We do need extensive backend skills.
REST, EF, SQL Server (or similar, they’re using some Mongo, there is some Informatics in places, a tiny amount of Oracle)
Micro services, Docker, CQRS
Any Cloud experience would be useful but not essential.
Any combination of Azure or Amazon
Your real pleasure in life is the deep nut and bolts type work. You’re used to building high transactional or low latency type platforms.
Rates are variable. Client will hire perm which comes with medical and pension. They’re very happy to bring on board contractors but they will ask for long term commitments.
Rate availability range from Developer level rates at between R650k and R750k or R400 / hr up to R500 / hr.
At senior Dev level where you are starting to play an influential hand in the thought processes behind the code, we have between R750k and R900k ctc or R500 up to R600 per hour.
we have placed as high as R1.2m per annum or R700 / R750 per hour.
Note though, even at those levels, the value to them is in the ability to deliver advanced code. These are not managerial jobs.
