Rio Tinto Procurement is recruiting for a highly skilled Procurement Sourcing Specialist to be based at our offices in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Purpose of the role : The Sourcing Specialist is accountable to the Procurement Manager for providing support on strategic sourcing projects, and to contribute to the implementation of commercially favourable contracts delivering optimal value to the Rio Tinto Business Units.
The appointed candidate will be expected to provide commercial and administrative support to projects allocated, with minimal supervision in accordance with the Regional Sourcing Plan.
Key Responsibilities :
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, responsibilities include :
Undertaking procurement and supply chain sourcing projects
Implementing contract management steps (eg : contract execution, implementation, supplier reviews)
Category management of individual sourcing projects and a portfolio of contracts, contributing to value delivery through the deployment of Best Practices, procurement tools and negotiation skills.
Engaging, communicating and influencing internal and external stakeholders at operational levels (Superintendent, Manager, Company representatives)
Providing expert commercial support to peers
Managing of key Supplier Relationships
Supporting and contributing to market development initiatives and influence end users to evaluate alternative supply sources
Maintaining accurate and current contract administration in physical and electronic administration systems, and support overall procurement department administration.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Procurement or related field
Degree or Diploma (Commerce, Legal, Engineering)
Strong Interpersonal skills and the ability to engage customers and suppliers
Above average Communication skills
Reasonable understanding and experience in Commercial Law
Experience in a Mining environment will be an advantage
Proficient in English. French language ability will be advantageous
Advanced Computer literacy in MS Word & Excel
Experience in working within a multi-cultural environment
Project Management experience
