Woodlands International College is a progressive, Co-Educational, Independent, non-denominational College based on Christian values.

It is situated on a pristine wetland on the northern boundary of Boksburg. This peaceful location, with its spacious grounds, provides the ideal environment for an educational institution of this nature.

Woodlands is blessed to have two Campuses a Pre-Primary Campus and a combined Primary and Senior College Campus.

We need to appoint a Full-Time MUSIC HEAD of DEPARTMENT from January 2019.

In 2018, Woodlands launched its official Music Department in both the Primary College and the Senior College. We are seeking to appoint a Head of Department MUSIC, who will captain the school in its musical infancy and be influential in the development of the Music Department so that the College can in the long term offer Music as an Academic subject to Matric level.

Key responsibilities :

  • Individual piano tuition, with the ability to prepare pupils for external examinations to a grade eight level
  • Individual flute, saxophone and clarinet tuition, with the ability to prepare pupils for external examinations to a grade eight level would be an added advantage
  • Ability to source and manage peripatetic Music Teachers in a variety of instruments including percussion, violin, piano and vocals
  • Training of both the Primary and the Senior College Choirs
  • Co ordination of the IEB subject music programme alongside our Head of Art and Head of Drama
  • Administration within the music department
  • Willing to assist with the Direction and / or Production of the Schools Musical Productions.
  • Minimum requirements :

  • Relevant undergraduate degree or teacher’s licentiate or equivalent
  • At least 3 years’ experience in music teaching
  • Current SACE registration
  • Competent in piano accompaniment
  • Intermediate computer music literacy and teaching through technology skills
  • Choir conducting skills o Ability to teach recorder and class music
  • Self-motivated, organised and energetic
  • Be willing to work outside of school hours when necessary
  • Engage all students in enjoying their music experience
  • Be empathetic and inspire respect
  • Display excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Be familiar with the IEB curricula and assessment
  • Have passion and long term vision for music
  • Display excellent organizational and team management skills.
