The purpose of this position is to assist and support the legal team in the administration of all legal matters. To ensure that all legal matters are attended to.

To ensure that Legal Associates are updated with matters that they need to attend to. To collate and report on statistical data that arises from legal matters.

Main Job Functions

  • Drive a Customer-centric culture.
  • Execute our values through daily job functions.
  • Ensure effective management of commercial data bases.
  • Assign and allocate legal and commercial queries to appropriate legal associate.
  • Conduct weekly follow ups on commercial matters.
  • File and serve legal documents.
  • Ensure that all the pleadings are adhered to and the timelines are met in terms of the court.
  • Liaise with external counsel if necessary.
  • Manage the Legal Team's diaries including travel arrangements.
  • Conduct legal research.
  • Assist with drafting legal documents and correspondence.
  • Coordinate legal training and prepare presentations on legal matters.
  • Monitor all legal fees with external parties.
  • Recover insurance costs where possible.
  • Give ongoing feedback to the Legal Team on activity and status of relevant legal matters.
  • Assist with the compilation of monthly reports for the DGC on activity and status of agreements, contracts, litigation and critical issues.
  • Update contract templates, service provider agreements and settlement agreements to ensure consistency of documentation.
  • File all documentation relating to litigation, agreements, contracts & ad hoc matters securely and appropriately.
  • Assist the DGC in compiling the annual cost centre budget.
  • Monitor monthly expenditure.
  • Prepare draft agreements for legal associates.
  • Maintain, manage and control contracts register showing the start and renewal dates for all contracts to ensure effective and pro-
  • active planning and management of these contracts.

  • Maintain contract information on company contract management software to ensure integrity of data at all times.
  • Minute legal meetings and follow up on action points.
  • Manage / support / assist with ad hoc projects.
  • Educational Requirements

  • Paralegal Degree / Legal Diploma
  • Studying towards a legal degree would be advantages
  • Work and Training experience

  • 1 to 2 years in Statistics or Administration
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
