To plan modern and leading practice underground mining operations across Anglo American.

Demonstrate the required level of applied expertise and be a point of contact for the design of underground mining operations and projects.
Manage the mine planning of projects through early project stages, pre-feasibility and feasibility to operations.
Provide practical insight to all underground mining operations to ensure that mine planning compliments the existing system of work and value add opportunities for exploiting the Mineral Resource are investigated and realised.
Analyse internal and external data to establish practice benchmarks for mine planning and compliance monitoring.
Identify technical standard requirements, be it revision or developing new specifications.
Investigate root cause of non-compliance and make recommendations for rectifying.
Identify opportunities to maximise value to Anglo American through improved performance providing safety, health and environmental impacts are considered and not compromised.
Identify and escalate all risks that might affect successful delivery and mining capability.
Support the implementation of leading the safety and sustainable planning of underground mining across mining operations and projects in Anglo American.
REQUIREMENTS : Formal qualifications :
Formal qualifications :
Required : Must have a formal qualification - Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering or other relevant discipline (Civil or Industrial with applied experience in underground operations).
Role-specific knowledge :
Relevant experience in operating in and supervising mechanised underground mining development and production.
Previous international experience is desirable for this role.
Considered an expert operational practitioner in the underground development field.
Track record of successful execution and delivery of underground development strategies for individual mine operations.
Has overseen project development, sharing of best practice and developing technical and practical capability of mining personnel.
Demonstrated ability to consider short, medium and long term consequences of proposed changes to processes.
Demonstrated success in the implementation of process improvements across multiple work streams in a mining operation.
Provides a consistent outstanding role model in relation to safety practices with a deep understanding of the importance of safety.
