Duties and responsibilities :

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Curriculum Studies and / or Life Sciences Education.
  • Participate in the work integrated learning programme of the Faculty (teaching practice).
  • Ensure active involvement in research activities of the Faculty.
  • Contribute to curriculum development in the field of Curriculum Studies and / or Life Sciences Education.
  • Supervise and provide consultation sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Work in a team with colleagues within the School and Faculty.
  • Participate in engaged scholarship projects of the School and Faculty.
  • Inherent requirements :

  • Master’s degree in Curriculum Studies and / or Natural Sciences or Life Sciences Education.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
  • Provide evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication, ideally in an accredited journal.
  • A good academic record.
  • Required competencies :

  • Teaching experience in Curriculum Studies and / or Life Sciences Education.
  • Knowledge of- and the ability to use Learning Management Systems (LMS) for teaching and assessment.
  • Ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate students in Education.
  • Good research skills and writing abilities.
  • Sound interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Intermediate computer literacy skills.
  • Recommendations :

  • Doctoral degree in Curriculum Studies and / or Natural Sciences or Life Sciences Education or willingness to enrol for a doctoral degree in Curriculum Studies and / or Natural Sciences or Life Sciences Education.
  • Two (2) years’ teaching experience in a post-school education environment or in teacher education.
  • Proven research record of relevant publications in national accredited journals.
  • Evidence of previous involvement in engaged scholarship.
  • Experience in postgraduate supervision.
  • Assumption of duties : 1 July 2018.
