Duties and responsibilities :
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Curriculum Studies and / or Life Sciences Education.
Participate in the work integrated learning programme of the Faculty (teaching practice).
Ensure active involvement in research activities of the Faculty.
Contribute to curriculum development in the field of Curriculum Studies and / or Life Sciences Education.
Supervise and provide consultation sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Work in a team with colleagues within the School and Faculty.
Participate in engaged scholarship projects of the School and Faculty.
Inherent requirements :
Master’s degree in Curriculum Studies and / or Natural Sciences or Life Sciences Education.
Proven experience in the delivery of presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
Provide evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication, ideally in an accredited journal.
A good academic record.
Required competencies :
Teaching experience in Curriculum Studies and / or Life Sciences Education.
Knowledge of- and the ability to use Learning Management Systems (LMS) for teaching and assessment.
Ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate students in Education.
Good research skills and writing abilities.
Sound interpersonal relationship skills.
Intermediate computer literacy skills.
Doctoral degree in Curriculum Studies and / or Natural Sciences or Life Sciences Education or willingness to enrol for a doctoral degree in Curriculum Studies and / or Natural Sciences or Life Sciences Education.
Two (2) years’ teaching experience in a post-school education environment or in teacher education.
Proven research record of relevant publications in national accredited journals.
Evidence of previous involvement in engaged scholarship.
Experience in postgraduate supervision.
Assumption of duties : 1 July 2018.
