Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION : The primary function of this role is to support the South Africa Industrial Controller in ensuring all costing and pricing of the products is correct and updated timeously.

The Cost Accountant is responsible for providing day-to-day support to the South Africa Industrial Controller in a number of key areas, including :

  • To provide sound guidance and advice to the Sales team in the decision making process around pricing.
  • To develop and maintain pricing models as a solid foundation for providing advice and rmendations to the sales team.
  • Develop solutions and rmendations for new business pricing requirements. Responsible for the initial analysis of the situation and the creation of a proposal of various solutions / options.
  • The final implementation of the business decision generally will fall to the accountable Sales person.

  • Responsible for the pricing waterfall model from SKU list price and customer price points to operational profit - calculating real profitability of customer pricing for tenders, deals, channels, customer groups and so on.
  • To update and maintain relevant indices database, in order to keep track of indices movements. Based on these movements, provide input to the Sales team for those customers with pricing based on indices.
  • Providing cost modelling for input in pricing decision making.
  • Highlight the low and negative margins when creating new pricing and adjusting existing customer pricing.
  • Leverage and share best practices for price modelling, analysis and rmendations. Responsible for analysing current processes and documentation, presenting rmendations and options to the team and collaborating with the team to prioritize implementation.
  • Provide pricing related project support and expertise to any business initiatives impacting the pricing for assigned areas of the business.

  • SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE :

  • The candidate must have the desire and ability to achieve professional qualifications
  • Business acumen
  • or equivalent degree
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in cost accounting gained in a manufacturing environment.
  • Systems knowledge MFGPro / JD Edwards, Oracle (Preferred but not essential)
  • Microsoft Office Skills (Excel knowledge essential)
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of influencing skills
  • Effective multi-functional team working
  • Process orientated with a good attention to detail
  • Logical in approach and application
  • Effectivemunication and manager of people skills essential
  • Demonstrable continued personal development both technical and behavioral
