Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required : -

  • Relevant Masters Degree.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant teaching and learning experience.
  • Experience in online and blended education delivery.
  • Experience with working with Learning Management Systems.
  • Core Functions : -

  • Development, review and implementation of Teaching and Learning strategy.
  • Review and implement Teaching Learning and Assessment Policies and Procedures.
  • Manage Teaching and Learning activities, develop department calendar and chair committee meetings.
  • Report on Teaching Learning Assessment.
  • Review of academic documents in relation to assessments.
  • Implementation of a communication / feedback plan for students.
  • Work closely with the Programme, Programme Co-ordinators, Academic Managers, etc., to support and advise on all matters regarding teaching, learning assessment.
  • Co-ordinate training and development for academics.
  • Support and encourage learning innovation.
  • Ensure that Academic staff are conversant with and implement appropriate methods of curriculum delivery, including the use of new technologies and assist in sharing of good practice within a higher education landscape.
  • Actively promote the development and implementation of innovation in teaching, learning and student experience.
  • Skills and Competencies : -

  • Familiar with the blended and online pedagogies.
  • Familiar with the Teaching and Learning criterions of the Council of Higher Education.
  • Process working knowledge of SA higher education and regulatory landscape.
  • Excellent communication skills : verbal, written and reporting skills.
  • Must be able to work within pre-determined timeframes and deadlines.
  • Must be able to communicate confidently and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Must be a collegial team player.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, email and Internet).
  • Proficient in email etiquette.
  • Posses a high level of organisational skills, work ethic and confidentiality.
  • Be able to work during weekends when required.
