    The H Band role is based within Technology.

    The role of the isto :

  • Provideoperational and project implementation support to USSD, INS, LBS and MyVodacomEnvironment.
  • Provideinput to solution architecture, strategy and design for Telecoms SupportServices environment.
  • Provideinput into product development and support of Telecoms SupportServices.
  • Yourresponsibilities will include :

  • Routinesystem preventative and corrective maintenance on USSD, INS, LBS and MyVodacomsystems.
  • Proceduresare to be reviewed and amended on an on-going basis, looking for more optimalways of carrying out these system / application checks.
  • Providehigh level support to customer care regarding customer queries.
  • Mainfocus on system, application and database administration and optimisation. Thisincludes all possible tasks required on supported systems.
  • Assistance can beobtained from vendors with the aim of carrying out those tasks going forward.

  • Monitorand manage Telecoms Support Services availability of 99,98%.
  • Findeffective and efficient means of ensuring this availability target is achieved.This includes proactive monitoring and detection of problems, improved means ofensuring resilience / redundancy and improved means of restoring service wheninterruptions to service are experienced.
  • Highlevel and operational support. Event, Incident, Problem, Change, Configurationand Continual Service Improvement management.
  • System Security and BackupAdministration.

  • Co-ordinateand facilitate meetings.
  • FollowISO Quality Assurance Procedures. Maintain technical library and documentation.
  • Compilingand distribution of job orders as per change management procedures.
  • Liaisingwith BSG, WASPS, NMC Suppliers / Vendors and other divisions within Vodacom on adaily basis.
  • Proactiveinvolvement in projects related to architecture changes, upgrades and theimplementation of new systems and services.
  • This includes high involvement indesign, testing, implementation and comprehensive monitoring once new systemsand services are implemented.

  • Ensuringsystems and applications are performing optimally. This includes collectingdata, analysis and executing required actions.
  • Constantlylook at ways of being proactive to issues that occur on system and applicationlevel.
  • Investigationinto support tools that will assist in operations being increasingly effectiveand efficient.
  • Investigationinto replacement systems and applications to improve performance as well assave capex and Opex costs.
  • Disasterrecovery planning and implementation on supported systems. Security and SOX administrationon supported systems.
  • The idealcandidate for this role will have :

  • 3-5 years Telecommunicationsexperience
  • 3-5 years hands on UNIXrelated systems and applications
  • Experience on Java basedapplications on Windows and Linux servers
  • Advanced Experience on the MicrosoftOffice package, i.e. MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point
  • Advanced Experience in UNIX,UNIX ADMIN, TCP / IP, SQL, LAN / WAN configurations, Windows
  • Advanced Experience inDatabase admin on SQL and MySQL and / or Oracle
  • In addition to the details listed above, the idealcandidate will have an in depth knowledge and understanding

  • Diplomaor Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent tertiaryqualification
  • 3-5years Telecommunications experience
  • Special Requirements :

  • Rotationalafterhours standby duties and overtime
  • Providehigh level support to junior team members (office hours and after hours)
  • Must bewilling to travel
  • Must be inpossession of a valid driver’s license; Must be willing to work across INTSSdepartments
  • Must be willingto work irregular hours
  • Must bewilling to take management delegation when required
  • Must bewilling to take polygraph test for NIA clearance
  • The base location for this role is Midrand, Techno Park.
