MAIN JOB PURPOSE : Maintenance lead across equipment repair and preventive maintenance services on sophisticated high-speed packaging equipment to ensure continuous operation of machinery and production processes.
Performance aligned across the business unit consistent with Unilever goals and business unit Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to include safety, quality, productivity and customer service. JOB SUMMARY
Responds immediately to equipment-related problems and installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs across all equipment in the business area to ensure minimal downtime
Manages and schedules repairs on operating equipment in the processing and / or packaging operations, whenever possible, and remains cognisant of quality standards as product quality can be easily compromised
Observes and tests operation of sophisticated hydraulic, pneumatic and / or mechanical as well as basic electrical devices to evaluate, identify and resolve operating problems
Dismantles equipment and machinery to identify, remove, repair and / or replace damaged or deteriorated components and reassembles appropriately
Monitors equipment meters and adjusts temperatures as needed
Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery to include repair / replacement of bearings, valves, actuators, sensors, gearboxes, conveyors, lubrication of parts, cleaning of filters, recalibration of controls, changing line gaskets, adjusting components and / or cleaning of equipment
Maintains maintenance logs and work order documentation on equipment repairs using SAP and paper forms
Troubleshoots PLC controlled equipment with a computer and sensors, cameras and calls an electrical specialist when needed
Recommends continuous improvement ideas to the Team Leader or the Shift Coordinator and provides information related to technical issues and equipment problemsMaintains an organised, clean and safe work areaObserves all safety guidelines, company rules and regulations, and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) in the performance across outputs and deliverables KEY REQUIREMENTS
Diploma or general education degree (GED)
N3 Mechanical qualification is essential
Completion of an apprentice program and holder of a certified Mechanical Trade either Millwright, Fitter or Turner
3 years’ industrial maintenance experience specifically across FMCG
Work independently and take initiative is critical
Collaborate across a team and *must be willing to learn and share skills with fellow technicians
Concise thinking and systematic problem solving is essential to implement cost-effective efficient engineering solutions
Physical Demands : Must be physically able to work in restricted spaces to access machinery and equipment components. Frequent standing and / or walking is essential.
Must be able to move, lift or carry heavy objects or materials
Work Environment : Work is regularly performed near moving mechanical parts in a production setting. Work is frequently performed in high places and near conveyors and there is frequent exposure to hot, wet and humid conditions.
The incumbent may also experience frequent exposure to sharp metal objects, hot liquid food products, caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock as well as fumes, dust, mold and mildew in the atmosphere.
Protective equipment must be worn around metal objects, liquid product and caustic chemicals when exposed to these conditions.
Work is performed near moving forklift tractors
