o To maintain equipment to be compliant to Engineering standards, Quality standards and all EHS standards that pertains to the safe operation of equipment.
o To maintain machinery and plant regularly to ensure maximum production. This includes shift work
o To prioritise and to attend to mechanical breakdowns on the equipment.
Maintenance Artisan (Millwright) in all production departments with all duties relevant to mechanical maintenance work
Essential Job Responsibilities :
o To oversee the mechanical and electrical maintenance of machinery and plant to ensure maximum production and reliability.
o To prioritize and to attend to breakdowns on the equipment.
o To execute planned maintenance work on time
o To up-skill the technical capabilities of Operators in the Departments.
o To be open / vigilant to continues improvement opportunities and report it to the lead fitter.
o Assist in projects and commissioning of new equipment in the areas of responsibility.
o Not to compromise safety and quality of product and people.
o To be available for permanent rotational shift work
Key performance : 1.Engineering
Comply to all engineering standards
1.1 Perform task as delegated to him by his superior i.e. Relevant additional tasks and responsibility which can be assigned from time to time
1.2 Lead in the identifying and closure of gaps as identified by relevant GES’s, TP13 and AMIS.
1.3 Add critical spare parts to the stores list as new required parts are identified and communicate to the responsible stores person for stock keeping
1.4 Analyze the effectiveness of RCA’s performed by Operators.
1.5 Initiate improvement projects that will reduce costs, increase production output or reduce waste.
1.6 Adhere to drive compliance to all engineering standards within the departments.
1.7 Assist the Lead Fitter in the control of expenditure in the department.
1.8 Support the Energy manager when needed.
1.9 Support the project department when needed.
1.10Support relevant assigned project tasks from concept to hand over in area of responsibility occasionally.
1.11Escalate risks regarding maintaining future machine reliability.
1.12Be available to support your team when required to do so.
1.13Be available to work overtime when requested by your superior.
1.14Drive improvement initiatives pertaining to increase productivity, reduction in cost and reduction in waste.
1.15Manage the up-skilling and cross training of your Operators
1.16Attend Production, Quality, EHS and Project meetings
2 Environmental Health and safety (EHS)
Ensures the safe running of equipment and machinery.
2.1 Support EHS department with mechanical compliance risks when needed.
2.2 Comply with all EHS standards and guidelines.
2.3 Monitor the timeous closure of risks that has been identified.
3 Production :
Ensures existing Value Stream equipment runs optimally.
3.1 Monitors performance of Value Stream equipment to ensure effective maximum production.
3.2 Assist operators and setters, setting and adjusting equipment, as required to ensure efficient running. Perform initial baseline setting on new equipment and after major maintenance.
Assist in couching operators, setter / Senior operators in machine setting.
3.3 Performs planned maintenance, services and ongoing checks to minimize breakdowns when required.
3.4 Ensures that equipment repairs are done cost effectively in the shortest possible time to minimize downtime.
3.5 Ensures the need for spares and change parts are identified and ordered timeously.
3.6 Up-skills the technical capabilities of the operators to improve productivity.
3.7 Support production improvement initiatives in the department.
3.8 Monitor own compliance of planned maintenance.
3.9 Be available to cover maintenance activities for machine during normal, shift and afterhours operation
3.10 Ensure own corrective and planned maintenance work orders comments are communicated to be addressed or escalated.
4 Operational Excellence (OE)
Supports OE Initiatives.
4.1 Participates in OE projects.
4.2 Identifies opportunities for ongoing improvements.
4.3 Ensures that OE improvements are integrated into the Value Stream equipment.
5 Quality / Validation :
Ensures equipment is maintained and running to required quality standards (SOP).
5.1 Ensures equipment is maintained per planned maintenance system requirements.
5.2 Ensures equipment and machines are validated per company requirements.
5.3 Attends training on QMS SOP and complies with all QMS standards and guidelines.
5.4 Assist the validation department with design reviews, installation and commissioning of equipment.
5.5 Complete corrective and planned maintenance work orders in a way to ensure they comply with quality requirements.
Basic qualifications :
Grade 12 or equivalent technical qualification
N3 N6 Qualified Millwright (Electro-mechanical artisan)
Work Experience :
5 Years in FMCG Environment
GSK systems and processes.
GMP, QMS, OE.GES and EHS standards.
Person specification : Self-motivated.
Problem solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and to deadline.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work shifts
