The G Band Senior Specialist : Vas Packet Core Support role is based within the Network Jobfamily
and perform systems and configurationintegration. Predominant focus will be on the planning, implementation andsupport of Vodacom’s Packet Core Network, including products for SGSN, GGSN,EPC(MME, SGW and PGW), eDirectory, BIND / DNS,RADIUS, PCRF and Sentinel LogManager, Various protocols (TCP, UDP, RADIUS, LDAP, DIAMETER, DNS, HTTP, etc.
and routers / switches.
Your responsibilities willinclude :
Evaluate and implement system softwarereleases upgrades for all Packet Core elements.
Engage with engineering, regional operationsand NMG network performance teams to understand and address network concerns.
Adhere to Vodacom health and safety absoluterules. Pre-empting operational issues before service is impacted, by studyingand analysing daily and weekly performance reports.
Internal and external audits, e.g. SOX. Takelead in handling major faults and escalations (office / after hours); includingguidance in providing solutions in quick time.
Interaction with other departments, likeService Development, OSS IN, CDN, NMC, Transmission and Our Vendor Partners.
Analyse and implement Vendor recommendationsto improve Network performance and prevent fraud

The ideal candidate for this rolewill have :
Matricor Grade 12 is essential
Abachelor’s degree or 3-year diploma in Information Technology or Electrical
Experienceon the Microsoft Office package i.e. MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point(Essential)
4- 8 years in Telecommunications or Information Technology industry
4 8 Years’ Experience on Linux / Unix based systems (Essential)
4 8 Years’ Experience on Cisco Switches and Routers(Essential)
4 8 Years’ Experience on Directory Services (Novell eDirectory) &LDAP(Advantageous)
4 8 Years’ Experience on Free Radius (Advantageous)
4 8 Years’ Experience on DNS (BIND) (Advantageous)
4 8 Years’ Experience on GSM, UMTS and LTE knowledge (Essential)
