The De Beers Technical and Sustainability Function is accountable for developing dynamic, integrated and commercially focussed upstream supply strategies in response to market demand, for enabling optimised asset and project performance and for innovative technical, functional and collaborative business leadership that enables a step-
change in sustainable long term value creation aligned to the Group Strategy.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE :
To collaboratively develop systems and approaches that translate Group Safety Management strategies and interventions into operational execution programmes to systematically embed and sustain operational safety management delivery maturity

Contribute toward the development and refinement of the Group’s Safety Leadership strategy and develop core safety leadership framework policies, guidelines, programmes, campaigns and initiatives to execute the Group strategy
Engage and collaborate with operational leadership and their teams to effectively analyse and identify core operational priorities required to embed and enhance safety leadership maturity
Engage with technical leads, operational leads and function teams to identify and schedule operational change and / or capital projects to proactively define the safety leadership and corresponding intervention priorities to ensure safe execution programming
Collaborate with internal and external teams and networks to research, analyse and develop fit-for-purpose Group and operational safety performance interventions, metrics and reports
Aggregate operational core safety leadership priorities to develop a consolidated Group safety management focus framework that will inform the Group’s safety leadership strategy and corresponding key safety interventions, campaigns and performance monitoring
Develop, refine and oversee the execution of safety incident reporting, investigation and analysis to shape and embed a culture of continuous collaborative sharing, learning from incidents and collaborative remedial and proactive safety leadership initiative deployment and measurement
In collaboration with key safety leadership teams, develop, refine and maintain an operational safety leadership capability framework against which to assess and guide organisational safety capability, capacity, talent management and deployment opportunities
Create and embed an effective assurance, operational self-assessment and safety leadership audit environment
Lead the development and maintenance of an operational safety leadership community of practice ensuring the creation and maintenance of a central repository of critical safety leadership material
Lead, co-develop and facilitate the delivery of safety leadership capability development programmes and interventions
REQUIREMENTS : Qualifications
Tertiary qualified in SHE or Technical disciplines
At least 10 years of demonstrated track record in leading operational Safety delivery at a large operational site or Business Unit level
Demonstrated track record in managing and influencing operational safety policy, programmes and initiatives
Demonstrated track record of influencing and shaping operational safety execution programmes within a multi-disciplinary, multi-
geographical and multi-cultural environment
Translating and aligning operational / organisational policies, practices, etc. to changing legislation and industry trends
Risk / Hazard and Incident investigation and reporting with demonstrated delivery of remedial actions
Design and execution of a major cross-functional safety programme and / or change management project(s)
Minimum of 10 years of operational mining experience, as well as corporate level experience.
