Role Description

  • Ensure adherence and compliance to Lonza Corporate EHS Systems.
  • Ensure full adherence and compliance to the OHS Act.
  • Manage compliance and adherence of all Lonza permits - Contractors and Staff.
  • Prepare EHS Presentations for Senior management and EHS training.
  • Schedule, implement and maintain Audits relating to EHS system performance.
  • Ensure adherence to all EHS and statutory training.
  • Manage medical surveillance.
  • Schedule and manage emergency drills and reports.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the EHS actions raised and implemented.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the Lonza EHS Disciplinary code.
  • Maintain and manage the corrective action tracking system.
  • Minimum Required Qualifications / Skills

    Education

    Tertiary Qualification in EHS Management e.g. Risk Management / SAMTRAC background

    Knowledge and experience on the OHS Act is a prerequisite

    Knowledge / Qualifications on Internal Auditing

    Knowledge on performing Root cause Analyses, PHA’s, MOC’s, PSSR’s, HAZOPS, Process safety in an chemical environment

    Preferred area of study : EHS & OHS Act Qualification / knowledge

    Experience

    Fully conversant with the OHS Act requirements and compliance thereto

    EHS and ISO management systems (at least 2 years)

    Internal Auditing (at least 2 years)

    3-5 Years of experience in EHS management systems and Responsible Care.

    Knowledge

    Knowledge and experience on the OHS Act requirements & appointments required

    Performing Risk assessments and Root Cause analyses

    Development and writing of EHS procedures and policies

    Knowledge and auditing of ISO 18001 and ISO 45001 management systems

    Systems orientated

    Ability to communicate to all levels

    Ability to complete written communication to all levels of the business

    Ability to Supervise staff issuing and performing critical work and critical work permits

    Excellent Record keeping

    Working effectively in a team environment

    Strong Leadership qualities

    Ability to enforce a very robust safety culture in the Business

    Ability to enforce compliance to the Company EHS policies

    Advise management and coach fellow co-workers on matters regarding EHS and Quality issues.

    Assertive to identify and question EHS non-compliances to e.g. Critical permit procedures
