The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is a research led teaching University and has a reputation as a leading educational provider for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The post requires the incumbent to develop, grow and drive Nursing related initiatives at UWC that are nationally and internationally recognised.
The post entails many facets as expected from a Professor / Associate Professor
Academic responsibilities will include :
Managing a Portfolio in the School of Nursing.
Teaching, managing and coordinating activities in relevant undergraduate and post graduate academic programmes.
Successful research supervision of master’s and doctoral candidates.
Responsible for securing funding or third stream income.
Publications and independent research, focusing on nursing or health related matters.
Evidence of leadership within the institution, nationally and internationally.
A PhD in Nursing or related field.
Five (5) years’ experience in a higher education institution.
Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse / Midwife / Community Health Nurse / Psychiatric Nurse.
Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Educator.
Proven research and publications record in the field of nursing or health in refereed journals.
Record of successful postgraduate supervision.
An international / national academic presence in Nursing or Health.
Demonstrates leadership in community and professional engagement in Nursing or Health.
Proven record of curriculum development and teaching & learning.
Proven record of securing funding or third stream income.
Added advantage :
NRF rating or a track record of application for NRF rating.
