Reporting to : Head of School

Key responsibilities :

  • Conduct self in such a way that a high performance culture in Languages and raising the profile of the subject throughout the school is evident.
  • Create and deliver Project Based Lessons and ensure all curriculum delivery is in line with 21st century thinking / methodology.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources and encourage creativity and innovation in curriculum development and implementation.
  • Ensure that the values of the school are adhered to in the Language department.
  • Undertake such duties as directed by the Head of Schools.
  • Main Activities :

    Quality of Teaching and Learning

  • To develop and administer Project Based Learning at the school.
  • To ensure that curriculum delivery is in line with 21st century learning.
  • To provide excellent teaching, assessment and recording and reporting of students’ results.
  • To support colleagues within the faculty of Languages, and the school, so that they may become excellent teachers.
  • To support other staff in achieving excellence in their work.
  • To deliver outstanding student outcomes and to support colleagues in achieving the same.
  • To keep up to date with national developments in the subjects, teaching practice and methodology.
  • To raise the quality of teaching and learning at the school.
  • Staff Development

  • Act as a Critical Friend to teachers and other classroom based professionals.
  • Provide support where needed
  • Give honest and constructive feedback
  • Share useful and well researched information
  • Support colleagues.
  • Work with colleagues in other institutions as appropriate.
  • General School Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead by example as a teacher achieving high standards of student progress, behaviour and motivation through effective teaching.
  • Sustain effective, positive relationships with all staff, pupils, parents / caregivers.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism.
  • Attend school events and activities as directed by the Head of School.
  • Qualifications and Experience :

  • B.Ed. Degree / PGCE from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • IEB Experience is essential
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • SACE registered.
  • Clear criminal record.
