experience and qualifications
Formal qualifications : A recognized Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance, but other qualifications can be considered.
A post-graduate qualification will be an advantage. Professional memberships : In this role it is preferable that a candidate be a member of the CFA Institute, or studying towards the designation.
Years’ experience : Minimum of 3-5 years of stockbroking / asset management experience. A background in investment research and company valuation is key, but experience in fund management would be an advantage Prior experience and knowledge of the African investment space would be an advantage.

Analysing, researching and valuing companies listed or with the potential to be listed on stock exchanges within Africa (ex SA) and companies with most of their assets or earnings based on the African continent outside of South Africa.
Interact with the stock broking community to obtain maximum benefit in terms of research and trading. Support, assist and complement the company’s investment team by making recommendations as to whether to acquire, dispose of or merely hold investments, based on the empirical and other evidence you have obtained in the course of your research.
To assist the portfolio manager / s of an African (ex-South Africa) portfolio, with relevant tasks The following will be included in the employment contract and will serve as the primary basis for performance reviews : Analysing, researching and valuing companies listed or with the potential to be listed on the stock exchanges where the company invests.
Integrity and accuracy of financial models and a consistent high standard of timely research. General market awareness. Participation in presentations to clients Value addition to the global portfolio management process of the Africa (ex-
