  • Position Overview :

    In collaboration with the School Director, the Operations Director will oversee all operations departments of the school to ensure an accurate, expedient and efficient delivery to all staff, students and AISJ’s parent community.

    The Operations Director will plan, develop and implement and operations management and development strategy to meet agreed performance targets, including budgetary temporal targets.

    Oversee transport, maintenance, landscaping, security, catering and develop school wide

    procurement plans, strategies and solutions. Operations Director shall ensure that the Operations Department adhere and support the School mission, vision and core values.

    Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or relevant tertiary qualification in Commerce or Engineering
  • MBA, MDP or EDP will be an added advantage
  • Multilingual with excellent command of English
  • Ability to speak and / or understand local South African Languages will be an added advantage

  • Preferred skills and experience :

  • Significant demonstrated knowledge of working in a managerial role at the executive level within the Education sector or an international institution
  • Solid knowledge of Building and Maintenance, Landscaping, Transport, HR, Finance
  • Sound commercial skills and understating of educational programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of how to lead, support and manage a team or several teams with diverse range of complex functions
  • Significant knowledge of project management, designing and implementing complex internal business process
  • A demonstrated record of success in planning and managing work programs from inception to completion and delivered on target
  • Proven ability to inspire and motivate a team and foster enthusiasm and innovation
  • Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Build and lead an effective and cohesive management team
  • Ensure that Operations function of the school are run effectively and efficiently, such that each department performs in terms of its strategic goals
  • Develop professional standards and operating procedures for each operations department in line with the industry guidelines and meeting AISJ’s unique requirements
  • Implement, maintain and manage an effective system of controls throughout operations department covering financial and non-financial controls
  • Ensure that operational objectives and standard of performance are owned by management as well as the employees, create a culture of accountability
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of contemporary operational development theory and methods. Provide suitable interpretation to the School Director, Principals, Managers and Staff within the institution.
  • Manage and give direction to outsourced functions such as Security and Catering departments
  • Liaise with Technology department for the delivery of efficient and reliable technology to the staff and students
  • Ensure and enforce value driven culture throughout the school
  • Establish and maintain effective engagement with parent community
  • Oversee the development of operational strategy in cooperation with the School Director and departmental managers.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate systems to monitor, evaluate and report on all operational departments
  • In conjunction with Finance department, draft and implement school-wide procurement strategy
  • Manage and control operations department expenditure within agreed budgets, liaise with Finance department to monitor and report on the expenditure
  • Ensure that all AISJ’s employee adhere to health and safety standards and remain legally compliant to statutory requirements
  • Drive staff performance and development strategies and ensure a high performance culture
  • Drive and monitor transformation with the school and ensure compliance to the statutory laws of the country
  • Serve as the member of the School Leadership Team and participate on the school leadership activities
  • Serve as a link between Operations and Education Faculty staff members and activities
  • Serve as a member of Administration and / or School Board of Directors committees such as Finance and Facilities as required
  • Liaise with the school’s Service Learning Coordinator with regards to cross over between the school’s community outreach initiatives and operations department
  • Develop a school-wide knowledge management system to create a tangible institutional memory focus on the best practice and the lessons learned
  • School Hours

    07 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
