As a Service Technician you will be responsible to execute service work according to agreed work flows and in accordance with ABB standard processes and safety guidelines.

You will also be responsible to deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers and in close co-operation with customer and other ABB teams, take actions to identify new Service business opportunities for ABB.

Your task as a Service Technician will include the following :

  • Service delivery : Perform Service tasks, identify technical problems and makes analysis through remote or on-site activity in any Service categories (installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, engineering and consulting, advanced services, extensions, upgrades and retrofits, end of life services, replacements, etc.).
  • Customer approach : Contribute to customer satisfaction by executing Service work according to customer order and expectation.
  • Create and maintain a good relationship with customers and understands their needs. Identifies new sales opportunities and communicates them internally.

  • Materials and supply : Coordinate, prepare and ensure that all materials, parts and equipment are available and at the appropriate quality for Service activities.
  • Documentation and reports : Prepare all documents and reports to be signed by the customer representative. Report work done in a timely manner and follows up when needed.
  • Troubleshooting : Proactively identify potential equipment failures and request proactive corrective actions. Troubleshoot equipment failure and make recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future.
  • Operational excellence : Proactively identify suggestions for product and quality improvement and communicate them, further in the ABB organization.
  • Provide recommendations to management to improve operations and customer service.

  • Health, safety and integrity : Apply safety rules and safe practices as well as environmental responsibilities. Report unsafe practices and incidents.
  • Requirements :

    Ideally you will have Bachelor’s degree in technology or Certificate N6 or National Diploma in Electrical engineering with being qualified as an apprentice, coupled with 3 years’ experience in directly performing electrical medium voltage installation work in an oil and gas, mining, or similar industrial environment.

    Your ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, SABS installation standards, fault finding on LV and MV equipment, install new or retrofit panels in substations and use variety of electrical test equipment skills will make you an ideal fit for this position.

    Candidates with Wireman’s license and valid driver’s license are preferred for this position.
