Vacancies for these roles may not be immediate and are contingent upon stacked rigs being reactivated. Successful candidates must be willing to work anywhere in these regions.
Job Summary Head of the Marine Department and responsible for all marine aspects of the operation. This includes crew’s safety, pollution prevention, all Lifting equipment, lifesaving equipment maintenance, marine equipment maintenance, vessel stability, payroll, MODU Deck and Marine Maintenance, supervision of Helideck Team and Crane Crews, supervision of Control Room personnel and safe operations of the MODU.
Assist the Master / OIM in their duties (including rig moves), compliance with Class, Flag State and Coastal State rules, regulations and requirements.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with Ensco’s safety and operational policies, standards and procedures. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Head of the Marine Department and Crew
Assists in ensuring the safety of the crews, protection of the environment and safety of the MODU. Responsible for his / her own safety
Participates as an ERT member in the event of a fire or other emergency; participates in drills and exercises, including monitoring and evaluation of emergency team response as defined on the Station Bill and by all maritime laws.
Ensures that all required drills are properly recorded
Ensure that Daily Stability calculations are performed and that all MODU stability criteria are maintained. This includes keeping a detailed and up to date record showing all Lightship and Daily weight and location changes
Attend and participate in all pre-tour, post tour and weekly safety meetings
Responsible for assisting the OIM in the operation of the MODU in accordance with Ensco Management System (EMS), Contractor’s requirements and International Regulations
Ensure MODU is safely navigated and operated in accordance with the Ensco Management System (EMS) and rig move guidance procedure
Ensure weather forecasts are available and assist in conducting proper interpretations in order to take actions to minimize any risk to MODU operations
Document and implement the established planned preventative maintenance and repair procedures for the MODU’s hull, superstructure, and all associated equipment
Maintain documentation of the safe working procedures for the Marine department
Ensure Marine / Deck / Crane Department personnel are aware of all job related hazards
Responsible for the proper maintenance of all Life Saving Equipment (Life Boats, Life Rings, Life Vests, Life Rafts, Rescue Boat
Responsible to review assigned tasks have been properly completed by subordinates
Ensure a smooth transition during Marine Department crew change
Keep electronic hand-over notes to ensure efficient and accurate transfer of information
Supervise all loading / unloading and transfer of personnel, supplies and equipment
Ensure that all lifting equipment and pressure vessels are maintained, inspected, tested, certified and recorded based on Statuary Regulations, Class and Company requirements
Have a thorough knowledge of the MODU’s communication systems
Assesses the competencies of direct reports, coaches, mentors, and works with them to enhance required competencies. Conducts performance reviews of direct reports
Be familiar with the responsibilities of the OIM in the event that the OIM is unavailable or otherwise indisposed
Ensure a Lifting Gear Register as per Ensco Policy is maintained
Ensure the watertight integrity of the MODU is maintained at all times
Ensure material and equipment are properly secured for all sea and weather conditions
Ensure safe helicopter operations are conducted
Previous experience as a Barge Supervisor on a Jackup or Four (4) years or more in a maintenance role offshore
Education, Training, Licenses and / or Certifications
High School diploma or GED equivalent required
Must meet all the training and certification requirements which will vary by unit location according to local requirements and regulations.
Specific unit requirements will be found in local job specification procedures and guidelines
Minimum Requirements for this position

Demonstrate and Promote Safety Leadership for the MODU Department Heads and team members
Good communication abilities, strong leadership, team building, and interpersonal skills
Must practice conflict resolution skills and be able to diplomatically handle confrontation
Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety regulations and all Ensco Management System (EMS)
Must be extremely organized, capable of multi-tasking, and willing to adjust schedule to MODU operational needs
Ensure compliance with Class, Coastal State and Flag State rules and regulations
Physically capable of performing emergency procedures including evacuations, fire drills, and other Emergencies. Maintain Medical Certification as required by International, Flag and Coastal State requirements including Drug Testing Requirements
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Software and People Soft
Technical Expertise as Subject Matter Expert in the following subjects : Marine Operations, Lifting Operations, Safety Observations, Marine Equipment Maintenance, Life Saving / Fire Fighting equipment maintenance, Emergency Response including Management of Major Emergencies, Lifeboat Operations, Man Overboard, Hazardous Gas release, and Pollution response and Stability
Competency in the following subjects : Class Rules and regulations including MARPOL, ISPS, STCW and ISM, Marine Regulations and Drilling Operations, Navigation, Marine Licensing, and Control Room Operations
Minimum Requirements for all Ensco positions
