The Communications Specialist for Africa will support the strategy development and growth of market regions across Africa.
Working alongside the Marketing and Communications Lead for Africa; the post holder will develop and deliver exceptional communication strategies to promote growth, and the diversification of AECOM’s service delivery to clients.
The post holder will work with regional, market regional, practice line, and EMIA marketing and communications to assist in establishing and implementing priorities and programmes throughout the geography.
Duties and Responsibilities :
In this position you will :
Work with the local Marketing and Communications team, regional leaders and relevant market regional leaders to assist with developing and executing growth strategies for the region.
Assist with internal and external communications to disseminate information, engage employees and promote a cohesive culture within the organisation.
Support business growth by providing relevant communications needs including writing, editing, proof reading and identifying relevant / suitable communications mediums / channels to disseminate content whilst ensuring brand compliance.
Develop and implement relevant regional communications policies and practices, linking with the wider Europe, Middle East, India, Africa (EMIA) Strategy and Growth community.
Drive the successful completion of marketing and other ad-hoc campaigns and related activities.
Assist to develop the Marketing and Communications strategies and plans for particular business lines.
Develop client campaigns and consult and engage with the CAM teams to ensure that creative, supporting content, and execution of brand, is aligned with the overarching client / communications strategy.
Support the development of impactful thought leadership and content to support our position as an industry thinker and leader.
Build evidence of internal branding & engagement value.
Develop and monitor metrics of success and return on investment.
Contribute as an active and positive member of the Marketing and Communications community.
Develop integrated digital and social media marketing strategies.
Work with communications / PR agencies to manage relationships with media and maximise the company's positive exposure in relevant trade publications.
Identify newsworthy stories / projects / processes, conduct interviews and write articles, newsletters, blogs, press releases etc.
for internal / external use.
Counsels and provides input to internal clients on editorial / communications matters.
Organise engaging customer events and coordinate the company's participation in exhibitions and conferences.
Key skills and expertise :
At least 8-10 years’ experience as a Communications Specialist or in related communications and marketing field.
Qualification in Marketing and Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or business related discipline.
Experience in a professional services environment.
Knowledge of social media and its platforms.
Excellent relationship management and communication skills, ideally in matrix organisations.
Ability to work as a positive, energised and adaptable team member.
Previous role within a global organisation in a professional services environment would be highly advantageous.
Ability to motivate fellow team members and work well with people at all levels of the business.
Ability to prioritise and thrive in a busy work environment.
Manage multiple high level projects at the same time.
Must have exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills.
Design and implement effective processes to deliver more effectively and efficiently to the business.
