Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Principal / Assistant Principal and the Learning Support Campus Coordinator, the Learning Support Teaching Partner provides high quality, relevant, on-
site assistance to a student in a 1 : 1 relationship within the context of the mainstream learning environment. He / she establishes an effective rapport with students and other staff members.
He / she regularly collaborates with the other members of the team to plan integrated units and learning experiences to promote the educational needs of the student in focus and all students.
The teaching partner should be familiar with all school procedures and with the school’s, Vision, Mission and Core Values.
Qualifications, Preferred Skills, and Experience
Previous experience working with young students with learning difficulties
An excellent level of spoken and written English
A degree / diploma, or working towards a qualification in the area of education
Teaching certification, or working towards a qualification in this area
Competence in information technology skills and willingness to learn more in this area
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Enthusiastic, creative and committed to teaching young learners
Flexible and collaborative a team player
Willing and enthusiastic to learn new teaching and learning approaches and methods
Exhibits patience and understanding when dealing with students
Able to interact respectfully with students
Provides individual support and instruction for the identified student to enable him / her to be successful.
Assists with the general maintenance of the classroom systems in relation to the 1 : 1 student
Works as a pro-active team member
Participates actively in collaborative planning sessions
Develops and maintains positive relationships with colleagues, students, and parents
Assists with the general preparation and organization of supplies and teaching materials
Establishes effective communication with colleagues, parents, and students
Supervises students in and out of classroom activities during the school day
Participates in curriculum and staff development opportunities as required
Maintains a high level of professional competence through in-service education and professional growth activities
Supervises and attends to assigned duties
Other tasks as determined by the Principal
School Hours :
7 : 10 am to 3.30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
7 : 10 am to 4 : 00 pm Wednesday
