Nike Supply Chain experts ensure that every year 900 million pieces of footwear, apparel and equipment arrive at the right destination on time.

That’s no easy task. The complex process involves more than 50 distribution centers, a network of thousands of accounts, and more than 100,000 retail stores around the world.

Nike Supply Chain professionals all over the world, make it happen. They constantly push for ways to make Nike’s supply chain faster, more efficient and more responsive to Nike’s always-

changing consumer needs.

Direct leadership of the South Africa Operations team (+- 22 people) consisting of Logistics & 3PL management team as well as the Marketplace Operations team dealing with order book management, monthly shipping goals, account operations capability building, and guarantee high level of customer service for the clients.

Role reports direct to the Marketplace Operations Director East and dotted into the GM of Nike South Africa

Ensure that the commercial and operations strategies are aligned and communicated clearly and all team members understand it

Ensure that the service level of the 3PL provider complies with the corporate standards and marketplace needs. Guarantee that the quality requirements at 3PL facilities are met.

Managing stock & inventory flow, guaranteeing an uninterrupted supply of product for our accounts

Lead & drive smooth and efficient shipments to customers and consumers from the warehouses and continuously improve where needed

Ensure timely, relevant and up-to-date information about goods movements to and from the warehouse, as well as accurate stock reconciliation

Ensure that inventory accuracy at warehouse is being done timely and qualitatively

Department Budget planning

Monitor actual expenditures vs budgeted

Cost optimization, 3PL efficiency and performance levels monitoring

Find ways to increase the efficiency and performance levels

Plan, develop, implement and track the fulfillment of new projects in the area of the responsibility in accordance with the company strategy and objectives

Develop short to medium term strategies for Logistic & Marketplace Operations. Identify opportunities to use e-business / IT integration & support to improve logistics & marketplace operations activities.

Partner with commercial & tech functions to develop new services and supply chain solutions to accelerate digital business with Nike.com and partners

Use Cost-to-Serve for increasing mutual profitability : initiate and deploy cost saving projects

in Logistics using accurate Account Profitability P&L’s for each GEO & Territory Key account

Keep Right balance between Customer and Corporate priorities

Review KPI’s to assess performance

Identification and development of local talent

Efficient allocation of local human resources as per business requirements

Ensure individual development plans and coaching programs for direct reports are in place and follows up progress

Build & Maintain Account Relationships

Logistics capabilities improvement through a more flexible organizational structure

Ensure full compliance to Logistics chain processes and procedures at all levels

Comply with relevant legislation and regulations

Improve Logistics capabilities & flexibility through 3PL providers

University Degree in CS&L, Economics, Technical or equivalent

More than 7 years of experience in Supply chain with strong focus in Logistics (inbound, warehousing and outbound) and 3PL management, especially in the South African marketplace.

Direct or indirect Customer Service experience is required.

Strong understanding of supply chain constraints and operational effectiveness

Ability to develop, align with commercial teams and implement long / middle term operations strategies in complex environment

Ability to manage intense complexity while maintaining composure

Overall understanding of P&L accountability / management

With increased omni-channel (DIG & B&M) consumer behavior understand how logistics and last mile should be structured, its elements and interdependencies.

Advanced proficiency business English both oral and written, including technical SC lexicon

Experience working in a diverse organization with multiple stakeholders and reporting lines

Experience in managing remote teams

Skilled in establishing supply contracts on competitive terms and conditions

Experience in negotiation

Experience of work with South African and International authorities

Industry background is a plus

International experience (worked abroad) is a plus as well as aspiration to continue an international Nike career outside South Africa
