IntroductionProvide strong technical support and guidance and assist in leading a cultural change with regards to continuous improvement of Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S).
This will require a solution focused approach resulting in management ownership on all levels, excellence in operations and accountability for compliance to legislation, relevant standards, and Winfield United South Africas strategic objectives.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesOperational Health and Safety SupportEnsure effective policies, standards and systems are in place and effectively implemented to provide and maintain the highest level of safety awareness and incident management, targeting zero harm to both people and the environmentFacilitate incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions where appropriateAssess and monitor legal compliance in terms of Health and Safety legislation and regulatory complianceImplement measures and actions to ensure that compliance is achievedEnvironmental and Sustainability SupportProvide oversight of environmental legal compliance across the GroupAssess and monitor legal compliance in terms of Environmental legislation and regulatory complianceImplement measures and actions to ensure that compliance is achievedProvide specialist support in the voluntary and mandatory reporting of sustainability disclosures this must be aligned to international best practiceAssess and manage the implications of local and international development trends in environmental and sustainability managementRisk AssessmentFacilitate risk assessments (Baseline & Issue based)Identify the need for risk assessmentIdentify what type of risk assessment is requiredLead and facilitate the assessmentMonitoring and ReportingImplement and management a robust reporting system for EHS operations across the Group Monitor and report EHS performance and trends relating to leading and lagging indicatorsMeasure and report such that continuous improvement of performance is achievedOversee the management and use of an integrated reporting systemCommunicationDevelop and maintain an internal EHS communication forum to share learnings and improve performanceDevelop and maintain close working relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally providing regular feedback to senior managementLiaise and collaborate with functional teams e.
g. HR, Finance, Technical, IT etc. ensuring effective communication at all levelsManage relationships together with GE : S&T with external stakeholders, not limited to : CAIA, CropLife SA, Dept.
