To design, engineer, implement and manage operations of next generation platforms, systems and tooling in alignment to the banks information technology strategy which includes the digitisation journey where the focus on high quality and resilient systems.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Design and implement strategic platforms
Design, engineer and implement best practice cloud platforms to support relevant workloads focusing heavily on implementation via automation while ensuring documentation of engineered platforms, scalability, performance, resilience as the solution scales up.
Implement and operate tooling capabilities
Implement and operate tooling supporting capabilities such as infrastructure as code, configuration management, and automation resulting in resilient and scalable systems while providing support to other users regarding queries and coaching others on implementation.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of relevant practices that would support the bank’s cloud and platform engineering strategy where relevant ensuring the upkeep of a sustainable platform.
Coach and develop others
Coach and develop automation engineering capability within the bank by developing skills in other to ensure sustainability with respect to automation engineering while also reducing the reliance on external parties to support next generation platforms.
Best practice processes
Research and benchmark externally best practices both locally and globally to implement innovative ideas to progress on existing processes to improve on the internal customers experience.
Data driven metrics
Determine data driven metrics to support platform and system functionality and backlog maintenance by implementing relevant systems to collect data metrics to give transparent views of platform under support.
Preferred Qualification and Experience
Relevant Tertiary Degree in Information Technology
The specific degree within the information technology discipline is Computer Science alternatively and engineering degree.
Certifications required, depending on the context of the position and solution, include : Chef or Puppet certification; Linux Windows certifications;
middleware / platform certifications for example OpenShift, Jboss and WAS; Database certifications; Java certification, Python certification;
Cloud certification for example AWS, Azure and GCP; and Go certification
Knowledge / Technical Skills / Expertise
Infrastructure / Platforms (Enterprise computing infrastructure support and maintenance provision)
Stakeholder Management (The coordination of relationships with and between key stakeholders, during the design, management and implementation of business change.)
IT Architecture (Architectural methodologies used in the design & development of IT systems )
Technology Orientation (The understanding of broad areas that form technology landscape and how they complement each other in for specific IT solutions or decisions. )
Use of Build Automation (This goes beyond simply writing a build script to include other related automation like continuous integration, automated deployments, and static code analysis tools)
Use of Version Control (This skill includes basic use of a version control tool, as well as a general understanding of software configuration management)
Deep technical knowledge of infrastructure and systems
Ability to support and maintain infrastructure in Wealth
Influence the future state of wealth from a system resilience and stability perspective
