About the opportunity

Uniting is seeking a Life Skills support worker to join their South Western Sydney team on a permanent part-time basis.

This is a mobile role where you will be working a minimum of 16 hours / fortnight on a fixed roster. Paying $29.12 (base) hourly rate + travel reimbursement

We are looking for flexible staff to join our committed Community Support Team, providing support across Southern Sydney and South West Sydney suburbs.

Working with participants on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), The role of a Life Skills Supporter is responsible for assisting people with various disabilities including, complex mental health needs to identify and achieve their goals, connecting and accessing the community, maximising their independence and the ability to make choices about things that matter to them.

Participants are located predominantly across the following suburbs : Liverpool, Campbelltown, East Hills, Casula, Macquarie Fields, Chipping North, and Miller.

Flexibility to meet participants across these suburbs is essential.

About You

  • Full NSW Drivers licence with fully insured vehicle
  • Ability to connect and communicate with people living with disability
  • Tech savvy with demonstrated experience using various record keeping applications
  • Certificate III or IV in Disability, or equivalent ( desirable but not essential)
  • Clear and effective communication skills and ability to establish a professional relationship with participant and their families
  • Demonstrated understanding of person-centred care
  • Experience supporting participants from Aboriginal and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds would be advantageous
  • Current paid Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Check
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Available to work a short Saturday shift fortnightly
