KEY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION : Act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries from employees and external partners Plan, direct and coordinate the administrative functions of an organisation Oversee the recruiting, interviewing and hiring of new staff Consult with top executives on strategic planning Serve as a link between an organisation’s management and its employees Take care of Occupational Health and Safety KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES : Forming and maintaining employee records Updating databases internally Strategic management dealing with making and implementing decisions about the future direction the organisation Recruitment and selection sourcing, screening, shortlisting and selecting the right candidates for the required vacant positions Orientation the systematic and planned introduction of employees to their jobs, their co-workers and the organisation.
Promotion of employer - employee relations including both individual relations as well as collective relations, e.g. trade unions Assess training needs to apply training programmes Assist with staff development to ensure that their functions are performed with loyalty, pride, and developing their skills for further application within the company Develop and maintain all HR policies and procedures across the organisation Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management Oversee and manage the performance management and employee evaluation process that drives high performance Nurture a positive working environment Maintain pay plan and benefits program Implement orientation programmes and develop and monitor staff recognition and reward system.
Risk management REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE : English and Afrikaans minimum Xhosa advantageous Grade 12 3 years’ relevant experience within building or construction environment Fully PC literate Knowledge of South African laws and HR compliance and regulations Knowledge and principles of Human Resources Practices Well-versed in compensation and benefits COMPETENCIES : Knowledge, Skills and Attributes required for success Knowledge of training and development Strong interpersonal skills Knowledge of recruitment and selection Organised, pro-active and self-managed Professional approach Confident in dealing with management and colleagues Able to work under pressure Ability to foresee problems before they arise insight into the business Leadership skills for creating strategic plans for the HR department as well as the overall workforce Demonstrate the ability to take initiative and carry out assigned tasks to completion Strong administration skills PERFORMANCE MEASURABLES : Management of succession planning Training initiatives Staff morale Health and safety improvements HEALTH & SAFETY : To ensure health and safety in the workplace To ensure workers are informed with regard to the OHS Act To inform management and employees with regard to the requirements of the OHS Act Identify potential hazards Establish the precautionary measures that are necessary to protect workers against the identified hazards Provide the necessary information, instruction, training and supervision Not permit anyone to carry on with any task unless the necessary precautionary measures have been taken Take steps to ensure that every employee complies with the requirement of the Act Enforce the necessary control measures in the interest of health and safety.
Work cooperatively with personnel to prevent occupational injuries and illnesses See to it that the work being done, and the equipment used, is under general supervision of a worker who has been trained to understand the hazards associated with the work.
