The right person for this client-facing role is self-motivated, able to prioritise own tasks, work meticulously and independently, and ability to work under pressure.

Clear, concise and accurate communication, verbally and in writing, is vital for this position. The purpose of this position is to provide consistent, reliable, accurate and professional finance support to the Director, Manager and Core Team of the CoE-HUMAN and oversee the strategic financial and administrative tasks of the Centre.

The position is key to the smooth functioning of the CoE-HUMAN.

Ability to work in-office, as well as remotely (ensure access to stable internet connection), and to work flexible hours.

Brief Description

  • Financial Management Budget Recons, Cash-Flow statements, Creating and Paying invoices and claims, Credit Cards Recons, etc.
  • Strategic Centre Financial Management Reports, Quarterly Financial Cashflows to client(s), Expense Reports for the Centre Core Accounts, Project-specific expenditure Reports, etc.
  • Financial and Project-specific forecasting.
  • Oversee the General Office Administration and Secretarial Services incl. Travel Bookings, Procurement, Online and Offline Record Keeping, and Filing.
  • Manage information related tasks like ensuring both online and offline records are kept, information is easily accessible but confidential.
  • Requirements :

  • A finance related qualification (degree or honours)
  • At least four years’ experience in Project Financial Management
  • Comprehensive expertise of the Oracle and SAP Business Objects Systems in its entirety
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong MS Suite Office proficiency
  • Knowledge of University finance systems knowledge of Wits finance systems would be advantageous
  • Previous experience in a research environment
  • An appreciation for human development is advantageous
