The opportunity

As a Restructuring Manager, you will have a pivotal role in restructuring engagements; working closely with the senior leadership team on each engagement to execute the analysis and draw conclusions, while also being a critical member of the team, providing coaching and insight to junior colleagues.

You will get excellent exposure to our clients which consist of some of the world’s largest corporates, banks and development finance institutions and will benefit from being at the heart of shaping restructuring outcomes that preserve value and protect jobs.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside the leadership team to execute the go-to-market strategy including completing research on potential targets and drafting thought leadership.

You will also develop a strong risk radar, ensuring sure that the firm’s Quality and Risk Management Procedures are followed on your engagements.

Your key responsibilities

Your analytical and report writing skills will be crucial in preparing comprehensive financial reviews of company's operations and trading performance.

You are likely to take ownership of large parts of client deliverables and be responsible for completing fieldwork including liaising directly with client and target staff.

You will play a key role in the team coaching more junior staff and helping ensure that they can build a fulfilling career at EY.

Skills and attributes for success


  • Manage delivery of sections of work products reporting into a Senior Manager or Associate Director or on smaller engagements taking a key role in delivery of entire work products
  • Assist partners in identifying new opportunities and preparing pitches
  • Understand our service offerings and actively identify opportunities to better serve clients
  • Build strong internal relationships within EY Parthenon and SaT and across other services
  • Manage engagement economics and communicate significant issues, fees and estimates to complete to partners and clients
  • People

  • Develop people through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring junior staff
  • Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for all levels of staff
  • Contribute to people initiatives including recruiting, retaining and training EYP and SaT professionals
  • Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills
  • Understand, follow and communicate workplace policies and procedures to all levels of staff
  • Develop personal profile and awareness of EY(P) offerings in the marketplace
  • Build strong and long-term relationships with key work providers
  • Act as an ambassador for EY(P) in the market
  • Operations

  • Risk management of restructuring engagements
  • Day to day management of financial aspects of engagements ( cost monitoring, billing etc)
  • To qualify for the role, you must have :

  • A bachelors or graduate degree
  • A minimum of five years of relevant work experience ( restructuring, financial diligence, financial modelling, audit)
  • Client facing experience from a professional services background and the ability to lead client conversations and meetings.
  • Skills in financial analysis and reporting findings to stakeholders
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools including Excel and Powerpoint
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Appreciation of the risks inherent in advising distressed businesses and their stakeholders
  • Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Restructuring experience working in a recognised consultancy firm or for a lender / investor
  • Knowledge of current restructuring methodologies and insolvency regimes
  • Experience in designing and helping to implement restructuring solutions
  • Professional accountancy qualification.
  • Experience of using data analytics tools such as Power BI and Power query
