Dynamic Earth Solutions (DES) specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.
Hatch is looking to expand its service offering in the region (Africa, Europe, Middle East, India and Russia) by building a team of highly skilled geotechnical engineers.
Hatch has already built a considerable global team in the Dynamic Earth Solutions Delivery Practice and now seeks to expand that impact on the African continent.
A new geotechnical engineer is sought for a thrilling role that is full of potential and responsibility. The new discipline pioneer will grow and lead the team of geotechnical engineers with support from experts around the globe.
Position Title : Senior Geotechnical EngineerKey Responsibilities : Lead advanced geotechnical studies with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scopePerform conceptual and detailed geotechnical engineering designParticipate in scoping requirements for proposalsGrow and lead the local geotechnical discipline in the Africa, Europe, Middle East, India and Russia regionParticipate in and contribute to design reviewsProvide and / or coordinate training for resources assigned to projectsPrepare and / or review project procedures, standard specifications and design criteriaReview and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians and technologistsDevelop factual and interpretive geotechnical reports Ensure relevant technical experts are involved in the design process as required and facilitate the sharing of technical expertise both across projects and across Hatch offices globally.
Scope, manage and participate in field investigations for projectsProvide specialized geotechnical advice and analytical servicesPrepare engineering calculations where requiredPrepare technical specifications where requiredPrepare and contribute to technical memos and reportsProvide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimatesUndertake construction supervision and management dependent upon project demandsSupport of site engineering teams to provide technical solutions and timely response to technical queriesLiaise with prospective clients to win workGrow the geotechnical team sustainably based on expanding workloadWork to ensure the implementation of safety in design and integrity principles in design documentationMaintain a strong focus on personal safety and the safety of staffQualifications : Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited universityPost-graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering is considered an assetRegistered as a Professional Engineer10+ years experience in relevant geotechnical fieldExperience in seismic design is considered an assetExperience with working on projects in a multi-disciplinary environmentSound understanding of design engineering codes and technical standardsStrong written skills to prepare reports, proposals and other project deliverablesGood communication and interpersonal skillsGood planning and organizational skillsAbility to function without supervisionGood safety awarenessWhy join us?
