Job Purpose
The information Technology (IT) Project Manager is responsible to plan, initiate, and manage IT Projects. The IT Project Manager will be responsible to plan, organise, and integrate cross-functional Information Technology Projects that are significant in scope and impact.
They will lead and guide the work of IT team members on Projects, serve as liaison between business and technical aspects of Projects.
The role will take full accountability to plan Projects, initiate each stage of the Project, assess business implications, and monitor progress to assure deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met.
Key Responsibilities :
The IT Project Manager will :
Manage Information Technology Projects or system activities based on a needs analysis and the IT strategy
Develop detailed Project plans, including goals and plans to meet those goals
Develop guidelines for system implementation, including a Project team and schedules with individual responsibilities
Manage and maintain Project timeframes, budgets for appropriate resource allocation and status reports
Identify information technology Project resource requirements
Utilise Project management tools to track Project performance and schedule adherence
Prepare analytical reports and analyse data to identify trends or relationships among variables
Collaborate with others to resolve information technology issues
Develop information communication procedures
Conduct risk assessments for Projects
Organise meetings to discuss Project goals and progress
Core Responsibilities :
IT Project Management
Maintain the organisations effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans through IT Project deliverables
Outlining, defining, and initiating various Projects
Complete Projects by coordinating resources and Projects schedules based on the needs of the organisation
Develop mechanisms, which could include data analytics to measure and evaluate the success of Projects
Develop implementation plans that include analyses such as cost-benefit or return on investment (ROI)
Document instructions for end-users and assist with the testing of the final product
Oversee and manage the complete Project Management Cycle from start to end to ensure timeous completion
Project Support
Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing annual budgets, and scheduling expenditures
Plan and overseeing the preparation and dissemination of Project communications
Liaise with stakeholders such as Project personnel, vendors, and end-users regarding Project requirements
Compile Project reports and inform management regarding problems
Proactively work with the Developers to find solutions to business needs
Schedule and facilitate meetings related to Information Technology Projects
Where necessary, manage Project teams in the roll out of IT Projects
Knowledge Management
Keep up to date with professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops
Ensure change management processes are implemented and employees are trained on new technology
Keep up to date on industry standards and best practice in term of technology
General and Administration
Maintain an updated reporting system
Ensure accurate and reflective reports are provided to management timeously
Ensure timeous feedback is given to all the relevant stakeholders
Attend and participate in meetings
Minimum Requirements :
Educational Qualifications :
Degree in IT or equivalent
Knowledge of IT and Project Management Principles
Professional qualification in Project Management would be an advantage.
4 - 5 years work experience in an IT Project Management role
