JOB PURPOSE : The development, implementation and monitoring of the Groups environmental strategy. The individual will also be responsible for communicating the Groups plans, formulating budgets and marketing its green strategies to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Managing the Groups environmental risk management framework, to ensure legal compliance to regulatory environmental requirements and best practice through : Assessment and evaluation of activities and planned projects in business;
  • Guidance and advice to identified stakeholders on legal compliance requirements and regulatory interactions, and compliance risk reporting.

  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Develop and execute the Groups environmental sustainability strategy as agreed with the responsible Group Director;
  • Assist responsible parties to maintain the Environmental Control System framework at all of the Groups operational sites Detecting environmental risk and legal exposures related to direct environmental impact in business, identifying opportunities for improvement of sustainability, and facilitating a strategic analysis with the responsible Group Executive;
  • Support business when required with legal and scientific environmental advice and guidance for responsible natural resource management;
  • Overseeing the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental metrics tools and the required analysis of data to draw management information statistics;
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce cost and agreeing with business on cost reduction initiatives associated with environmental metrics.

    Ensure efficient and effective stakeholder engagement : Proactively develop and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including local regulators relevant to the business and external regulatory bodies to ensure the Group receives appropriate co-operation when required and meets regulatory compliance.

    Keep up to date with developments in environmental laws, regulations and best practice affecting the Group and promote compliance to these requirements in business.

    Understand the legal aspects around both direct and indirect environmental impact and interpretation thereof for the Group.

    Drive agreed environmental legal and compliance audits or monitoring exercises in business to improve the Groups environmental compliance profile.

    Ensure that a policy for direct environmental management is developed and implemented in the Group. Develop environmental governance documents and guidelines as required.

    Advise on the management of carbon accounting including tax and carbon trading. Oversee the identification of direct environmental risk management needs and opportunities for the Groups aquaculture farm operations.

    Ensure that identified environmental risks are reported to the responsible Group Executive. Oversee effective reporting for assurance purposes to relevant Group stakeholders.

    QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS : BSc. Honours in Environmental Sciences degree or equivalent. 6+ years relevant experience in Sustainability / Environmental management in a people management role with proven experience of having worked for / with large companies or corporates, linking in to the development and implementation of strategies and environmental risk management framework initiatives
