The term Graduate Assistant is the umbrella term that encompasses all types of GA appointments. Graduate Assistants are employed by the University to teach, conduct research, or assist with administrative duties in departments and non-academic units.
Every attempt is made to assign Graduate Assistants to positions that are directly related to the student’s field of study or that provide the opportunity to develop transferable, professional skills.
Graduate Assistantships are assigned in the department or unit and confirmed by the Graduate School.
The Digital ACT Studio, one of the Multiliteracy Centers, offers consultations for students, faculty, and staff on digital design, visual rhetoric, and digital media production.
Like the Writing Center and the Speaking Center, members of the UNCG community can use DACTS to receive feedback on how to make their projects more effective for given audiences.
DACTS has an opening for a graduate assistant, working 20 hours per week for the studio. The primary duties (75%) will be consulting in the studio, with the remaining duties largely supporting outreach efforts for DACTS.
The Digital ACT Studio includes professional staff, graduate assistants, and undergraduate students who work collaboratively to accomplish the studio’s goals.
In this position, the Graduate Assistant will be supervised by the Director of the Digital ACT Studio. This position is also intended to provide an invaluable educational component and would be an excellent fit for those who have previous tutoring or design experience.
Graduate Assistant Responsibilities
Time Commitment : 20 hours / week for the fall and spring semesters. Specific working hours will be determined in coordination with the Director of the Digital Studio based on the office needs.
Some evening work will be required.
