We are currently looking for a Senior Transactional Due Diligence Specialist to join our existing Advisory Services team in Cape Town, or Johannesburg, South Africa.

Job DescriptionThe Specialist must be proficient in project management, be able to network with clients and develop business, problem solve where appropriate, work as part of a team and independently.

Job Description :

  • Provide buy-side and sell-side transaction due diligence, post-deal integration, and business-critical risk and liability advice in the context of corporate Mergers & Acquisitions and Sustainable Finance.
  • Provide ESG related advice throughout the investment cycle in Africa.
  • Engage with finance clients), supporting them in the development of investment case studies and systematic ESG policy integration and capacity building processes, pre- and post-investment.
  • Advise corporate clients on pertinent ESG risks associated with their acquisitions and divestments.
  • Key ResponsibilitiesThe Environmental and Social Due Diligence Specialist will be responsible for advising clients on the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks associated with major transactions in Africa working for a range of SLR clients from Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), Private Equity, and Commercial Banks.

    The Specialist will work on fast moving deals, providing commercially savvy advice on the pertinent risks and their mitigation and be able to develop concise reports quickly.

    As part of our global Advisory and Transactions business the Specialist must be able to execute on business development activities with finance and cooperate clients.

    Minimum Requirements :

  • Honours degree with minimum 10 years of related work experience with a substantial portion of that being in transactions or gained within a relevant client organization.
  • Experienced in the application of international ESG standards and guidelines including IFC and World Bank, African Development Bank and Equator Principles.
  • Foundational specialism in a relevant environmental, social or governance discipline.
  • Solid understanding of business strategy, operations, and business models.
  • Demonstrate skills and experience in business development.
  • Strong skills in project management proficiency.
  • Multi-disciplinary consultancy experience.
  • Solid familiarity with climate adaptation / resilience strategies, metrics, policy frameworks, and financing mechanisms.
  • Must be able to proactively manage own work, liaise with clients, specialists, and authorities, manage quality assurance / client feedback, and ensure he / she meets budgetary, quality, safety and timeframe targets, while exceeding client expectations.
  • Must have a sound knowledge of international good practice approaches.
  • Responsible for the development of proposal submissions.
  • Must be prepared and able to travel regularly.
  • Must have worked on projects across various sectors within Africa.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Should have a valid driver’s license.
