About TUNLOur plan at TUNL is to solve exports for African ecommerce brands. There is huge export potential across South Africa and Africa, and we want to unlock it.
Imagine the impact that 10x the exports from our businesses will have on employment and the economy? As the first step, we’ve launched TUNL Economy an economy courier from South Africa to the US, EU and UK.
Here's a quick overview : https : / / start.tunl.to / TUNL is funded by the best venture builder on the continent, Founders Factory Africa in partnership with Standard Bank.
We were recently highlighted as one of 30 startups shaping the future of Africa by the Yale Africa Startup Review2022.We are shipping weekly from Cape Town to the US for six merchants, have a waitlist approaching 50 merchants with almost zero marketing effort, and are on the cusp of rapid growth.
Join us as one of our first team members and you can help shape the company and its technology, as we solve important and exciting challenges in South Africa and on the continent.
Tech overviewThe TUNL platform helps e-commerce merchants book export shipments, which are then fulfilled by TUNL. The platform currently offers easy booking and order management, with end-to-end tracking and email updates to end customers overseas.
Future functionality will aim to improve convenience for merchants through e-commerce plugins and an increasing suite of export services, origins and destinations.
Our stack consists of AWS (Lambda and DynamoDB), Bubble (primarily the frontend), and Airtable (BI). No-code tools helped to validate our problem-solution fit quickly, and we’re well along the process of migrating to a highly performant architecture ready for scaling.
You will need to learn new technologies and frameworks largely on your own, under the guidance of our broader tech support team.
You need to embody our client-centric ethos required to deliver the quality of service our merchants have come to expect.
Process-driven : - As a startup building upon an MVP, establishing and following processes is more important than ever. You must support the transition by following existing processes and improving upon them.
This includes both project management in terms of managing tickets, reporting progress as well developer best practices.
Communication : - This is universal, you need to communicate effectively and timeously with the people you work with. People who depend on you should be made aware of your progress and any challenges you are dealing with that may affect them.
This includes clients.- Ask for help if you need it. Be ready to help others if they need it. Adaptable : - You may be in situations where you don’t have adequate resources but still be expected to deliver something.
Ensure that you set the right expectations and improvise where necessary. The focus is on getting things done. Remote work : - Able to work independently with minimal supervision and comfortable with communicating with team members and merchants virtually using Slack and Zoom / Google Meet.
Willingness to learn and try new things : - Our future projects will have varying requirements. Sometimes we may need to use certain technologies that are new to you or the team.
