Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a SSME Coordinator with experience in the Mining and Minerals industry on an 18 month contract basis in Umkomaas, KwaZulu Natal.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assists Administration and Coaching of all Local SMME’S
  • Facilitate, Impart knowledge and coach all SMME’S on the legal and Site compliance
  • Ensure knowledge transfer allowing for sustainable and self-sufficient SMME’s
  • Assist with liaison with all project stake holders, client, contractors, vendors including other Wood project departments to allow for the identification and allocation of small works projects to SMME’S within their capabilities.
  • Ensure the compliance and implementation of Good Business principles and practices
  • Provide administrative services in support of SMME’S
  • Conduct weekly meetings with all identified and mandated Local SMME’s
  • Inform and report to the IR Manager and IR Coordinator Monthly reporting Statistic
  • Assist with arranging and taking minutes of various SMME meetings
  • Keeps records of all allocations, Local Spend AND Local SMME Database and site related activities
  • Producing reports, record keeping, memorandums, letters etc.
  • General Administrative duties
  • Skills / Qualifications

  • Industrial Relations qualifications and onboarding experience
  • Accounting and Book-keeping skills
  • Well-developed English language skills, including grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Good interpersonal relations and able to lead Business management to obtain Good Business Principles and Practices- Project Management experience
  • Demonstrate competency in a wide range of computer software including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Access
  • Ability to work under pressure and be flexible
  • Congenial with a desire to impart knowledge and develop sustainable Local Business’s
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • High standard of personal presentation
  • Ability to prioritise and organise tasks
  • Diplomacy and ability to keep sensitive information confidential
