Johannesburg, GautengOperations : a range of essential and complex services to ensure processes across the bank work as effectively and efficiently as possible Job Purpose The Collateral Manager is responsible for mitigating counterparty credit risk by reconciling and monitoring exposures which arise as a result of trading done under ISDA / GMRA and GMSLA agreements (trading agreements between counterparties that are required), and ensuring that adequate eligible collateral is in place to cover these exposures as defined in the relevant agreements .
The Collateral Manager will liaise with counterparties (whoever liberty trades with), front office, middle office, credit risk, market risk and legal to facilitate an end to end collateral management process (trading collateral).
The function covers a wide range of products, including OTC Equity, Rates and FX Derivatives, local and offshore Fixed Income Repo Trading, Structured Trades and Securities Lending.
In addition, the role is responsible for sponsoring process / system improvements aimed at the efficient and effective provisioning of Operations services with a distinct emphasis on customer centricity.
The role reports into the Head GMO Outsourced Processing. Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities Ensure Effective Strategic Management Provides accurate and timely information for the compilation of reports and feedback to stakeholders to enable informed decision making.
Manage the service of Collateral Management ensuring the profile of outsourced services is correct, the understanding of issues is accurate and consistent and high level service is provided.
Implement a culture of continuous improvement Adopt and manage the required service management framework and related service relationships.
Ensure SLA requirements are always met. Take on additional processes where feasible Provide solutions to stakeholder requirements Perform an impact analysis of all new products and provide requirement where necessary.
Ensure that all counterparty queries are addressed timeously. Managing of Global Markets trading book margining for Libfin.
Analyse any bespoke margining arrangements which are requested to determine whether they can be managed or not. Drive and Maintain Efficient Operations Manage the daily operations of all processes and functions performed by the Senior Analyst Ensure that all necessary reconciliations are performed and that discrepancies are resolved.
This is to ensure that Libfin is adequately collateralized. Ensure that reconciliations are reviewed daily. Maintaining control standards that meets the obligations of the regulator.
Analyse requirements related to New Products. This is done via a formal New Products Process. Feed testing to be completed and follow process through to implementation.
Monitor and control all processes via management structure and control dashboards to ensure that processes efficiently deliver required services.
Drive the continued improvement of the operational processes using all available tools and techniques. Ability to apply concepts, and practices for analyzing financial control processes,translating these into functional requirements and technical specifications and delivering and maintaining these on Finance systems.
Identify and define strategic operational performance metrics geared towards meeting enterprise objectives by analyzing the existing gaps.
Collaborates with other areas to ensure that best practices and a standard approach is followed Ensure strong control environment to maintain a low rate of incidents or losses.
ISO accreditation and conformance where applicable. Reduce and closely monitor the number of controls exceptions. Reduction in manual processing.
Higher level of system automation Maintain the Control Framework Manage, review and adjustments of the KRIs (Key Risk Indicators) framework toensure that they are measurable, and thresholds are valid and relevant and thatthey are monitored on an ongoing basis.
Develops and implements initiatives to reduce costs and ensures that budgets are met. Analyze process controls for effectiveness from a design and implementation perspective.
Identifies and assesses the risks facing Libfin Operations function, thereby providing effective loss and risk management and so minimizing the operational risks Ensures effective, efficient and optimal utilization of all resources (human and capital) to be responsive to competitive pressures, changing market conditions,client needs and business strategies Monitor Incident reporting within stipulated timeframes.
Ensure all significant audit findings are addressed and closed effectively Manage the reporting and resolution of issues with the Operations Risk function Structured KRI monthly reporting.
Manage the interactions with Standard Bank’s Operations Control to ensure that reporting is efficient, a good relationship exists and that a strong control environment is maintained.
Maintenance of ISO Accreditation Provide effective People Management Ensures that the correct calibre of staff is recruited through the recruitment process, thereby ensuring the Libfin function always has the correct talent to meet the strategic goals Ensures that resources are skilled across the different processes to enable cross product and cross function workload balancing Foster an effective, pleasant working environment and ensure high levels of staff satisfactions.
