Job Position : IT Network Engineer

Ref : 3308 - Nicky

Location : Port Elizabeth

Salary : R35 000 per month commensurate with experience and qualification

Rotational shift work (7 am to 11 pm) - 6 days a week, 7.5 hours per day (excluding lunch break)

Qualifications / Requirements :

  • Formal education and certification :
  • University IT Degree or Diploma
  • ITIL Version 3 Foundation preferred
  • Certification - Cisco CCNA / CCNP / CCIE highly advantageous
  • Microsoft, Citrix and / or any type of Network Certification highly advantageous
  • CheckPoint, Cisco or Fortigate Firewall Certification highly advantageous
  • Technology knowledge and experience :
  • Network infrastructure (WAN / LAN / VOIP / MPLS / SIP)
  • Data Centre and Server Room Infrastructures highly advantageous
  • Fortigate, Cisco Firewall technologies
  • WAN Acceleration technologies such as Riverbed
  • MPLS and VPN Links (especially IPSEC LAN, LAN VPNs)
  • Remote access services (Windows VPN, Direct Access etc)
  • Excellent knowledge of LAN switching and TCPIP (including DHCP, DNS)
  • Excellent Windows Operating Systems, Network Knowledge
  • Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing network issues on cloud-based services
  • Knowledge and experience :
  • Minimum of 4 to 5 years- experience in network and access environment
  • Experience working in an ITIL environment

  • Willing to work shifts - 24 / 7 rotational shifts
  • Key Performance Areas :

  • Deliver a highly efficient, effective and available services to the business according to agreed business requirements and service levels within specialist areas of expertise, including but not limited to network and security infrastructure, data centres and server rooms
  • Provide regular written updates on all tickets and assists with having an input and providing regular reports
  • Provide incident, problem, change, knowledge, event management, request fulfillment capabilities within the infrastructure team
  • Coverage of systems monitoring and alerting and reacting accordingly
  • Assist to ensure all documentation is available and accurately reflect the exact systems configuration at all times
  • Assist with the configuration management and auditing of all infrastructure services
  • Build and maintain relationship with the global and regional teams and attend regular meetings with the global functions accountabilities
  • Perform effective incident, problem and change management functions with regards to assigned services
  • Perform day-to-day activities and checks as part of the on-going maintenance of the assigned services and that they are carried out in a timely manner as well as ensuring that a forward schedule of maintenance and upgrades are implemented
  • Escalation into suppliers as and when required
  • Proactive and reactive monitoring of systems and monitoring services
  • Perform auditing of network infrastructure and data centre services
  • Ensure that effective system performance / capacity monitoring for all network and data centre services
  • Participate in post implementation / major incident reviews
