PROJECT COORDINATOR : STUDY COORDINATOR 6 Months Contract (6 hours per day, 30 hours per week) The South African Medical Research Council’s Environment and Health Research Unit (EHRU) requires a suitably qualified and experienced Project coordinator (Level 2).

This position falls under the EHRU Programme for Climate Change and Health. Applicants should have a keen interest in, and suitable qualifications and research experience related to environmental or public health.

The successful applicant would be expected to work 6 hours per day within the 6-month contract. Responsibilities : Coordinate technical operation of projects according to study protocols , Liaise with relevant fieldworker and project managers and principal investigators on project outcomes, Conduct data collection and apply quality control and quality assurance practices, Manage / supervise fieldworker’s performance at one site across more than one study project including staff training, Organization and management of data, including data entry and record keeping, Monitor progress of research activities and generate regular and ad-hoc reports as required using excel and / or statistical analysis tools, Communicate the research outputs, Plan, coordinate and manage all logistics and operational aspects of the project and field sites.

Core Requirements : 4-year tertiary degree in environmental epidemiology, natural sciences, health sciences, chemistry, public health or similar.

At least 2-years’ experience in research environment focusing on environmental / health issues. Experience in statistical analysis using STATA or SPSS and excel.

Proposal writing skills (including scope of work, timelines and budget, as well as team liaison). Training and / or work experience in research environment Research experience in study co-ordination Experience in conducting face to face interviews Fluency in speaking and writing in English and an African language Advantageous : Driver’s license Master’s Degree, enrolled for PhD Interested candidates can send their CV
