Electrical and Automation Engineer
The role forms part of the Field Service Team at Wartsila South Africa in Cape Town and will support the Region with engineering Services, commissioning activities, maintenance activities and customer enquiries and or concerns.
The successful candidate will work either as Standalone Service Technician or part of a Site Team at sites located throughout South and East Africa region as well as in other locations across the countries where we are present as needed.
What will you be doing?
Receive Assignment from Coordinator / Project Team
Prepare for Assignment : Gather all technical and project related Information Kick Off meeting with Coordinator and Customer Plan Travel / Visa / Accommodation with Planner Ensure proper planning and execution schedule is confirmed prior to travel
Travel to site and carry out assignment Service work or commissioning Fulfil customer requests and expectations Ensure all required tests and qualification of work done is completed
Complete all handover / completion certificates at site and obtain customer signatures
Return to normal work location and complete debriefing and work report and expense report
Submit all documentation, work report and update software / documentation

B. Tech Mechatronics / B. Tech Electrical (Control Systems).
Degree / National Diploma in Mechatronics / Electromechanical / Electrical Engineering.
Minimum Three (3) years proven experience gained as Service Technician.
Industry Training in Power Plant Power Generation or Marine Power Generation.
National Technical Certificate (NTC) 6 + Trade Certificate in Electromechanical / Process Control / Electrical Engineering.
Must be independent and analytic with high attention to detail.
Must be able to work under pressure and think on their feet.
Must be able to manage their time and workload accordingly to meet all deadlines.
Must display strong customer orientation with a commitment to upholding plant processes through strict adherence to the Safety and Quality systems of both Customer and Company.
Must demonstrate the ability to execute and achieve results, while organizing and managing multiple priorities within the specified timeframe.
Must have a proven willingness to take part in teamwork and be a team player.
Must have the ability to serve as a strong and confident technical knowledge expert.
Must have strong written and verbal communications skills, as well as technical writing.
Must be able to work and communicate professionally with customers and superiors.
Willing to travel throughout Africa and Europe for extended periods.
Prepared to work shifts, additional hours and weekends as required.
Must be able to demonstrate leadership as well as be able to work under a Team Leader.
Must be adaptable to new ways of working and environment.
Must having a good attitude and an eager to learn mentality.
Previous project management experience will be advantageous.
Knowledge of manufacturing and maintenance principles will be advantageous.
Knowledge of constraint management principles will be advantageous.
Safety and Quality Control experience will be advantageous.
