Business Manager : Infrastructure, DC, Hosting and Cloud

Reports to Transnet ICT Operations Executive

Purpose of the Job

The employee is employed in the role of Business Unit Manager, Infrastructure, Data Centre, Hosting and Cloud and is responsible for the Build, Design, Management and administration of all the infrastructure servers, services and platforms.

Managing the Build team and responsible for ensuring all procedures and alignment to the contract requirements. The main objective of the position is the Provision and Delivery of Excellent Services to all Clients.

Services are related to Information Technology and Systems that are delivered through programmes, projects and annuity-based services.

As well as provide organisational focus on Gijima''s Infrastructure, Data Centre and Hosting and Cloud environment as well as act as a custodian of knowledge and expertise related to planning, directing, monitoring, advising and delivering according to SLA and reporting on support service solutions, projects, and services.

Key objectives of this role

The key objectives are to be highly proficient regarding the management of Infrastructure, DC, Hosting and Cloud services, plan and budget for support services, manage requirements and service contracts, deliver in terms of agreed contracts and ensure conformance to governance mechanisms.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPA''S)

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

INTERNAL

  • Offers exemplary customer service, including maintaining customer relationships by ensuring service SLAs are met
  • Sets up and maintains Infrastructure services including managing team members and evaluating efficiency
  • Sets up and maintains Data Centre services including managing team members and evaluating efficiency
  • Sets up and maintains Cloud services including managing team members and evaluating efficiency
  • Regularly audits work being done and customer service being provided to ensure all standards are met and that repair work is carried out effectively, correctly, and thoroughly
  • Provide direction on Continued service improvements
  • Oversees team members performing inspections, preparing reports, and doing repairs;
  • Develops / Maintains / Improves Operating Level Agreements
  • Develops Processes in line with Business requirements
  • Provides regular Management reports
  • Team management of support agents
  • Reporting and expectation management
  • FINANCIAL

  • Financial management - accountable for operating expenses against a negotiated and agreed budget
  • Management of agreed PBIT
  • Maintain a consolidated view of costs and risks across lines of service which includes performance of financial analysis in collaboration with service and client delivery management
  • Manage operational areas in a cost-effective manner applying relevant methodologies and leverage off economies of scale
  • Mitigation of penalties
  • STAFF MANAGEMENT

  • Provide leadership, development, technical training, guidance & supervision for staff, relative to application operations
  • Ensure efficient skills transfer to the team leaders
  • Ensure that the team structure is manned by motivated & empowered staff & lead by sound performance management & transformational leadership practices
  • VENDOR RELATION MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure effective management of vendor relationships & performance
  • Ensure contracts for vendor equipment & licensing support are maintained
  • OPERATIONS

  • Ensure optimal delivery of hosted applications & services
  • Assists team members in troubleshooting & solving application queries
  • Manage the operational environments to ensure efficient service to users
  • Monitor the operating efficiency of existing application systems & provides (or arranges for) proactive maintenance
  • Assist in the development, standardization & implementation of effective processes, procedures & methodologies for preventive maintenance & replacement plans;
  • including scoping, scheduling & logging of all activities associated with patching, upgrades, & version control routines

    RESOLUTION MANAGEMENT

  • Provide technical support & lead the effective problem resolution for customer enquiries & to resolve application issues
  • Ensure that the agreed SLAs are achieved to prevent issues & avoid business disruption
  • Communicate to users & administration on project & problem status & measurements
