A Network Engineer role is currently on offer at a Financial Services Provider based in Cape Town. The company renders specialized financial services products with operations in Europe, North America, and the EMEA region.

The position is based at our client’s Cape Town offices and reports to their ICT office in Europe. The successful incumbent will provide support to users locally and around the globe.

Interacts with members of the local ICT team and external service providers.

This role calls for the following expertise and qualifications

Tertiary qualification in Information Systems / IT

CCNP certification, JNCIS

5 Years of experience

Excellent communication skill is key to this role

Expert knowledge in rendering Level 2 & 3 technology support

Some of the skills that we are looking for :

Expertise in switching, routing and security on Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and silver Peak systems

Excellent knowledge of Level 2 &3 technologies including OSPF, MP-BGP, EVPN, VXLAN

Knowledge of common tools such as Netbox and IPAM tools expected

Willingness to learn new technologies at a fast pace in a constantly changing environment

Working concepts and knowledge of virtualization and desktop virtualization (e.g Citrix, VMware)

Scripting abilities with strong interests to learn infrastructure automation (e.g. Ansible, Python)

As an Expert Network Engineer, you will be required to carry out the following functions :

Configure, install and monitor various network systems to maximize security and uptime

Act at subject matter expert on network incidents until full restoration including root cause analysis

Actively participate to LAN, WAN, and SD-WAN network operations

Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team

Provide creative solutions to reoccurring problems and capacity demands

Ability to design and deploy network solutions consisting of firewalls, switches, routers, and other assets

Be available to attend to after-hours emergencies, maintenance, and rendering of support in critical situations.
