AProcess Safety Engineerposition has become available in the Manufacturing Department.

The purpose of the job is to manage all process engineering, process safety management and assignedcapex projects for the manufacturing facility to ensure statutory, legal and corporate compliance and ensure products are manufactured to meet corporate and customer requirements.

Qualifications : BSc Chemical Engineering

Experience : 5 to 10 years process safety experience in a high paced chemical manufacturing environment, preferably in a batch processing reaction chemistry environment.

Responsibilities include but not limited to :

  • Maintain and improve process engineering performance.
  • Effective management of capex projects.
  • Maintain and improve process safety.
  • Implement continuous improvement and project management initiatives.
  • Maintain and improve SHERQ manufacturing performance.
  • Support group level process safety initiatives.
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities required :

  • Must be conversant with the entire manufacturing plant structure.
  • Strong understanding of system safety and hazard identification and risk analysis process (HIRA).
  • Risk assessment skills, general problem-solving using data analytics and root cause failure analysis techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes, process safety, policies, procedures,OHSAct and other relevant legislation.
  • Knowledge of DCS configuration.
  • Advanced knowledge of related chemistries and chemical manufacturing technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering and engineering design principles.
  • Advanced project management skills and portfolio management principles and have the ability to lead projects.
  • Strong leadership and management skills and abilities.
  • The successful candidate will be innovative and resourceful, able to handle pressure, an assertive problem solver with decision making abilities and a team member who is self-motivated.

    They must have good business acumen and be able to communicate at all levels, be organized and self - disciplined. The career is challenging with great prospects for growth.
