The Digital Platforms team at Standard Bank is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our team.
The Digital Platforms team is responsible for providing the core platforms and services that enable the different business units and countries across the Standard Bank Group to engage with their customers digitally.
We are a small team of designers that are embedded into multi-disciplinary and domain-specific feature teams which follow agile practices.
We are customer-focused and care deeply about improving the experience our customers have on our digital products.
To create and implement operational plans to achieve the scalability requirements of experience design.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Provide insight into the design, management and implementation of relevant policies, processes and systems in order to facilitate the management of risks.
Implement and take responsibility for all tasks associated with ensuring successful implementation of the Experience Design strategy for SBG within the area of specialisation.
Collaborate with other Business Units to share learnings and best practices and contribute to knowledge sharing and implementation of best practices.
Act as a trusted adviser for design across the Group and stakeholders.
Provide input into operational plans and the practical application thereof, to ensure that operational plans are clearly articulated and understood.
Lead Experience Design Teams according to the Bank's leadership principles and values, including employee lifecycle from recruitment through to exit, performance management, training and development, discipline and grievance management, retention and reward and people administration, to ensure a high performance culture.
Represent the business area in industry working groups and committees so that a positive image of the organisation and business unit is created and maintained.
Provide ad-hoc advice, assistance, coaching and / or mentoring to team mates so that their developmental needs are identified and met.
Delegate authority and responsibility, in line with business objectives, to ensure the empowerment, motivation and effectiveness of all direct and indirect reports.
Build and develop relationships across the different internal IT teams and with various stakeholders so that the business unit remains involved and aware of internal developments.
Technology & Architecture
Utilise the approved technologies employed by the Experience Design team to meet work outcomes, and identify how technologies can be applied differently to enhance the delivery of tasks.
Maintain knowledge of local and global industry design technologies and architecture enhancements with the aim of improving design delivery within SBG.
Identify, through research and deep specialist insights, the best and most seamless product design to suit current requirements, while considering product evolution and adaptability to future product requirements.
Understand both short-term and long-term business goals so that the current product design is fluid enough to implement future possibilities, both from a design and technological perspective.
Determine the structure of the interface and the functionality thereof. Understand what contributes to intuitive product navigation, and conceptualise UX elements that will enhance the operation of the product.
Advise teams on potential product scalability frameworks and / or methodologies to meet future business, customer and product requirements during collaboration with product / feature teams to develop project roadmaps in order to create an intuitive, cohesive and seamless user experience.
Create relevant UX and UI design artefacts that address the defined problem, gather user feedback for integration into designs, and work with the product team to develop a platform aligned to current and future product requirements which provides solutions suitable to respond to the problem.
Implement design changes of a moderately complex nature to products in line with Business Lines / Corporate Functions specifications so that the product may serve the business need more effectively.
Contribute to the improvement of product design methodologies through the analysis of data to inform customer insights and customer journeys.
Keep abreast of industry developments and enhance experience design skills to meet the evolving needs of customers.
Develop moderately complex design solutions through a solid understanding of device and ecosystem platforms to assure good customer experience by utilising various design and research methods to understand customer needs, friction points and decision-making processes.
Apply and contribute to the approved design standards in consultation with Business Lines / Corporate Functions to ensure consistency and alignment of design.
Analyse user needs and develop deep user insights so that direction may be provided in the development of moderately complex solutions that are user-centric and aligned to business goals, ensuring that the solution is fit for customer.
Adhere to IT Experience Design data policies in line with Standard Bank Group (SBG) data standards so that quality data is consistently and appropriately stored, used and managed.
Adhere to Group minimum standards for vendor selection and participate in the selection of the most appropriate vendor with required expertise.
Receive financial records of payments received from stakeholders regarding matters pertaining to IT Experience Design.
Engage in the invoicing of clients and other stakeholders so that monies owed are paid timeously where necessary.
Minimum Qualification and Experience
First Degree Information Studies
Alternative fields : Visual arts; Content writing
Analysis and Design :
Demonstrated workplace experience within the area of specialisation with evidence of contribution to the experience design practice : 5-7 years.
