Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for the position of a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer within Gibela Rail.
The successful candidate will be based at Dunnotar - Nigel (Ekurhuleni).
The purpose of the job is to perform the maintenance of the equipment on the shop floor regarding the mechanical items.
Minimum Requirements :
Relevant Diploma / Degree (preferably Mechanical / Industrial Engineering
Industrial background between 1 to 3 years’ experience preferably in the railway industry or maintenance department
Technical experience of Methods Engineering, writing and improving manufacturing and / or maintenance work instructions, line balancing, Lean Manufacturing
Ability to read and understand schematics and drawings
MS Office proficiency
Knowledge and Skills :
Decision-making & problem solving skills
Working knowledge of Quality and Health & Safety standards and systems
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Display high levels of integrity, ethics and morals
Disciplined with time management
Must have a high regard for customer (production) / supplier relationships
Knowledgeable of best practice principles
Flexible to work outside of normal operational boundaries to support set team targets
Display strong business acumen, particularly to cost consciousness, efficiency improvements and profit generation
Must have good conceptual thinking and analytical a skills
Tasks & Responsibilities :
Maintenance for production phase :
Consistently support production with short term actions for curative maintenance
Perform the preventive maintenance for mechanical activities, especially for CBS line
Work with the sub-contractors as and when required
Propose optimisation of the maintenance and time spent
Take into account return of experience, EHS and maintenance standards
Adhere to company procedures especially in relation to Quality and Health & Safety
Train new members of the team
Propose new or improved ways or working that will enable the Industrial teams to improve efficiencies and improve on safety
